Just buy it
In a world of overpriced hunting equipment that only yuppies smoking pipes and wearing tweed jackets can afford, you can always count on Gamehide to produce an affordable quality hunting vest. It has everything you need when it comes to putting a few critters on the table. Of course the main feature of any small game vest is the game pouch on the back. This vest will hold a daily limit of squirrels, grouse, rabbits or whatever else you want to drop in the crockpot. It has just enough blaze orange to keep you safe without looking like a newbie in a pumpkin suit bumbling around the woods. Plenty of loops for ammo and enough room in the pockets for everything a man needs in the woods like a can of chew, roll of toilet paper, bag of jerky and a couple PB&J sammiches to fuel a full day of busting brush and poppin God’s creatures with your grandpa’s old scatter gun. The material is good quality and durable, not covered in wax like an overpriced LL Bean garment. Let’s face it... the type of fellas that buy that stuff don’t step outside the cabin when it’s raining anyhow right? Nope, this is the real deal. The working man’s hunting vest that’ll last you a lifetime unless you get fat like I did. I still got 20 years out of the last one before I outgrew it. I recommend buying a size or two bigger if ya plan on wearing it over a coat or if ya like eating biscuits and gravy every morning after you turn 40. So order this vest and it’ll give ya a warm fuzzy feeling when ya see it hanging in the closet during the off-season. Then when the leaves change color and the call of the wild tugs at your primal instincts, throw it on and kill your dinner like a real man. My last piece of advice is never go in the woods without fire and a compass (a real one, not a cheapo pin-on or your dang cell phone that’s gonna die) or you’ll be eating acorn pie and having carnal relations with the forest creatures until one of your woods savvy buddies comes and bails ya out. Then you’ll get a nickname like “dumb bass”, I had to spell it that way so Amazon wouldn’t censor it. Happy hunting!

Size is pretty accurate if you wear medium get a large and so-forth to accommodate layers
So after reading many reviews regarding sizing. Against my better judgment I followed tje recommendations of get 1 size smaller as they run about a size+ larger.Generally wear an xl vest for the xtra room.So a large would be what i should normally use for a vest. Based on size statments I ordered a medium (im 5'10 185)With just a long sleeve tshirt it fits wellwith a heavy hooded sweatshirt its a bit snug but fits ok without to much restriction. With a mid weight jacket and sweatshirt its to restrictive. same with mid weight jacket and tshirt. I will probably keep the vest for warmer days maybe 60+ in new england. Prob order a large to use with jacket and sweat shirt for cooler wearher. Its made well for price point. And heavier than expected.

My hunt for a good hunting vest is finally over.
I was surprised. I had expected a poorly constructed, cheap hunting vest. I was wrong. This vest has a good weight to it. It is a canvas material with a large game pouch that is easily accessible. The zippered pockets are nice and deep, and there is even a pocket inside the vest for a cell phone. As far as the construction of the vest, I'm impressed. Good zipper, no loose threads which lead to holes in the seams. I would definitely recommend this vest.

Great buy for the price
Regarding the sizing: in the reviews that I read before purchase, it was mentioned that this vest runs a size larger than marked. I normally wear an XL in any shirt, jacket, etc, but ordered the L. It's true, the L size actually fit over a XL heavy jacket. For me, a good thing as I am 6 feet at 215 pounds; to be used as a sizing reference. If I were King of the World, I would prefer the current zippered interior ammo shell pockets to be external patch pockets with Velcro closures. Lastly, I think it would be worth the extra price point value to have a sightly heavier weight material to aid in resisting snags and tearing.YES, I would buy this vest again.

Great vest, but fits very, very big.
The ad is accurate when it says you should order one size lower than usual, and they really aren't joking. When they say it's meant to fit over a jacket, they're referring to a thick, heavy winter jacket that a guy would wear hunting in the midwest in late November. I hunt in AZ where even during the fall bird hunts I rarely wear more than a light jacket or a longsleeve over a t-shirt, so I really should have bought a size small (5 ft 11, 170 lbs). Great quality though and I'll definitely buy from this brand again, probably just not this particular model.

Great quality vest for the money!! 5 stars
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. This is a really nice vest this is a 3X I am 5'11 and I weigh 285 lbs in this vest is perfect to wear over plenty of clothes and still have plenty of range of motion and have lots of storage pockets and be able to hold 16 shells in the shell holders alone along with a cell phone pocket and an easy reach-around blood proof bird pocket also it has slight padding in the shoulders which works great with the game hide shirt and the color is beautiful and the material seems very durable The only thing I would change is to try and make the inside pocket a zipper pocket instead of the velcro besides that I give it a five star rating and a wood recommend to every person looking for a upland vest without having to pay an arm or leg for one

Well made
Construction is very good. Fabric is a thick canvas and the seams are stitched well. The padding on the shoulders could be a bit thicker, but it was sufficient for me. The two zippered pockets are large enough to hold a box of 25 12ga, in each pocket. On each side there are elastic areas for 7 shells, a total of 14, which should be sufficient. There is a flap that covers the primer end of the exposed shells which seems like a good idea. The papoose pocket on the back would probably hold two or three pheasants or the legal limit of dove or quail.I wear a XL size t shirt, and so bought an XL size vest. This was the appropriate size for me which permitted me to wear warm clothes underneath. The orange patches was visible enough since my compatriots didn't have a problem keeping track of me. I'd add an orange cap, just to make sure.
