I bought this for a cheap hub that came with some rims. The old ratchet was missing a spring.

24T is a great and sturdy compromise between 18T and 36T especially for this 225 lbs rider. Never had a 24T wracked.

go with the 54t or 36t and skip this one not enough difference over the stock 18t engagement to justify the cost. However it is quiet

The fabled Hybrid/superduty ratchet now available on its own!
350 Hybrid ratchets available as a genuine DT Swiss parts kit! Not an aftermarket item.DT Swiss sells the 350 Hybrid hub, which is reinforced throughout for use on tandems and... ebikes (where the beefed up parts really shine). The DT Swiss ratchet engagement is well known as the most survivable mechanism on the market when paired up with a high power mid drive like a BBSHD, Cyclone or Cyc X1. That reputation was gained with the stock 18T hollow ratchet, before the Hybrid hub with the 24T ratchet was released. Now we have the Hybrid, but its not available in all of the 350 hub widths/models.The 36T ratchet option mentioned by another reviewer makes for really quick engagement, but DT knew what DIY ebike builders already knew: The 36+ tooth upgrades are not as strong and can suffer catastrophic failure under severe load. So DT Swiss worked up a compromise: the 24T ratchet. I have a couple of these in addition to my other 350 wheelsets, and they work great. DT's other improvement for durability is to make the 24T ratchet wheels solid alloy versus the cutout-for-weight-weenieness of the others.Up until now, I could upgrade my rear wheels with the steel cassette body (another 350 Hybrid upgrade) but I could not get hold of the solid 24T ratchets. Now they are available as a parts kit, I can get pretty close to 350 Hybrid durability on hubsets like the Big Ride that have no Hybrid option.If all you want is quick engagement, get the 36T option and save these 24T kits for us heavy duty builders and riders.
