It should, it doesn't have any special macro keys on it, but you should be able to program some keys with the app from their site

why does the w key not work when i got it

either dirty, broken or it has been modified in the software

What is the key to toggle the backlight?

There isn't one on the keyboard, you're gonna need to download an application from SteelSeries' website so you can customize the backlight.
