Vroom! Vroom!
I picked up this mini V8 engine as a gift for my young mechanically curious and inclined nephew. He really enjoyed working on assembling it with his father and figuring out how an engine works. While I don't know the first thing about engines and would have been pretty lost trying to use it, he thought it was pretty great. That makes me happy!

So fun! Great for kids (and adults!) who fidget and like to keep busy.
This is just so fun! You can spend minutes at a time or HOURS of focused fun on one of the two projects, and it really activates the critical thinking parts of your brain. The quality of the pieces are flawless. No needing to cut them off of 3D printing sheets or worrying about sharp burrs or cheap plastic. The quality control on their hardware is, again, flawless. Assembly is definitely the most fun part, but then you even get to play with the electronic function afterward - and see your work in action! The engine isn't exactly easy to put together, in the sense that the building stage is more than half of the fun. The instruction manual is very clear with color and detail to determine which piece you need, and all the instructions are in picture form to avoid language or reading level barriers. The price value might seem a little high to some, but I can't stress how flawless the parts and quality are. No missing pieces, very well organized, and just so much fun. Great opportunity to become more intimately aware of engine parts and functions, to gain pride in your work, and gain rewarding experience.

Scaled down version of the Visable V8
One of my (adult) sons is a car enthusiast and now he builds race engines for a living. Many years ago when he was about 13, I purchased the Visable V8 from Hobby Lobby for over $100. It was challenging for him but he loved it and it was perfect for learning the internals and seeing how everything worked. I saw this and couldn't wait to get it. I have a younger adult son who has a disability but likes to work on cars with his older brother. I thought this would he perfect for him so he can also learn at his own pace. I love toys that teach. If your boys are like mine, they love putting together models. We have opened the box and looked at all the parts and the instructions booklet and it seems clear and concise. He hasn't put it together yet as he's waiting for his big brother to come over and assist. It reminds me of a scaled down version of the one I got from Hobby Lobby. It was operated by hand crank and this one is controlled by an app, which makes since given the technology advances since the last one I bought. He's very excited to put it together and I will post a picture once it's completed.

Cool concept but overly complicated for average teen
I ordered this mini engine kit to build with a 14 year old who is really into building transformers and legos. I thought it would be a challenging upgrade. While the design and concept is impressive, the kit was actually more frustrating than fun. I have a masters degree and the directions were still complicated to me. The number of tiny pieces felt as though it was excessive for the size and functionality of the final model. We called in my niece and nephew, who also enjoy builds. We still struggled. People who normally breeze through complex builds were defeated and struggled throughout the process so eventually lost interest, and quit, before getting halfway through. This would be better suited for a hobbyist with experience in miniature mechanical models, or engine builds.

Great V8 Engine Model
I'll agree with others that the instructions could be a little better illustrated. I ended up having to remove and check pieces to ensure I was using the right ones. Aside from that though, this thing is absolutely so cool! The model is so great and the fact it has pieces that act as pistons is so cool. I showed this to my nephew and he immediately loved seeing the pistons move and the gears function. He was having a blast and this is such a great value for how nice of a model this is. Great fun for kids.

Has an app to control sounds and lights, lots of little pieces
The Chanbrick mini V8 engine looks like it would be a super fun build for my hubby. It has a ton of parts that come with a 46-page instruction booklet. I think it’s cool that it has an app that can be used to turn on engine sounds and lights. The pieces are packaged in groups, making it easier to put together. I would have liked it if the box opened differently, so it could be secured after opening. It seems like it would be educational assembling it if it includes all the parts of a real engine. If it turns out as cool as I think it will be, the $46 price point would make sense. Will update when hubby has time to put it together.

Engaging & Detailed
This Mini V8 Engine Model Kit is an incredibly engaging and rewarding building set for all who enjoy mechanics and engineering. One of our sons is a beginner mechanic, and he loves this. The attention to detail in the components is impressive, and the fact that it actually runs with a motor, APP control, and light makes the finished product truly captivating. The step-by-step instructions were clear, making the assembly process challenging but enjoyable. It's more than just a model; it's an educational experience that provides a deeper understanding of engine mechanics, making it a fantastic collectible for enthusiasts. The whole family helped him put it together.
