A Passion for Metal: Reflections and Techniques of a Metal Sculptor

This was a gift for my son but fortunately I was able to read some of it and see the photos. I am so pleased and excited to hear my son's review. The photography is exceptional and it is a down to earth, personal and interesting read.

I found this book to be more about the artist/author's life story than useful information about metal sculpting techniques. Even the examples shown were not of a high artistic standard, but then he does say that he makes a living from his sculptures which amazes me. Perhaps he did not want to show his best work in the book through fear of having others make copies?

This book is very readable, not just a look at the pictures. There are many techniques used and discussed, with a new fluxing tool I'd never heard about. I've actually read most of it because of its interesting writing style. The work is high energy and enthusiasticly made.

This book is more for those with a technical approach to working with metal. I loved it but some of my students found it too technical. A great resource.

As an artist, I am just starting out with welding. This book was great and I feel contains something that will benefit someone at all levels of experience.

Gave this book as a gift to a friend who is a metal sculptor. He was thrilled with the pictures and content, especially the techniques.

I use this book to gather ideas in my own sculpying and metal work.Good writer.
