South ShoreStep One Platform Bed with Drawers, King 80-in, Pure White

I had been searching for a low-priced platform bed option for some time when I ran across this one on Amazon.com. A little leery (due to the negative reviews), I ordered it anyway and hoped for the best. Thankfully, I was not disappointed. As other reviewers described, the bed was shipped in 2 separate (and heavy!) boxes. It was well packed, and we did not have any damaged pieces. However, I researched before ordering and found that replacement parts could be ordered on the South Shore website. Making sure to follow the simple illustrated directions very carefully, my husband and I were able to assemble it in about 4 hours. It is key to put it together in the room it will be used. Also, we organized all our pieces before hand (stacking like boards together and using small bowls to keep the little bits from getting lost). We did not encounter too much confusion with the directions, and all the pieces were labeled correctly. Upon completion we found the bed to be plenty sturdy for our 11-inch memory foam mattress, and it sits atop with about an inch of platform extending beneath it. The mattress did slide around, but that was easily solved by placing a non-slip rug pad between the mattress and platform. The drawers are a great feature, and glide smoothly over our hardwood floors.Yes, the panels are constructed from laminated particle board, but this is pretty par for the course at this price point. It is a great deal for those with realistic expectations. I would compare the quality of materials to that of Ikea.All in all, we are quite happy with the purchase, and I think we will get many years use out of the bed.REVIEW UPDATE:We are still using the platform bed, however I thought I would update as to how it has worn over the past 4 years. The first area to wear has been the base of the drawers. These drawers are not meant to store anything too heavy (i had been using it as purse storage, but have now swapped it out for swimsuit storage), as the base is made from a very thin piece of board that easily warped from the weight of drawer contents. The drawers are ample sized, so it would make more sense to make them sturdy to accommodate the amount you can fit in them. Other than the drawers warping, I have noted that the platform itself has actually started to sag at the base of the bed over the drawer storage areas. I assume that this is due to the lack of support over where the drawers are. I have reduced my 5 stars to 4 stars to account for these oversights, but all in all I still believe this to be well priced for the 4 years of use.

Wow.ok bad news first, what you don't pay for in money you pay for in time and frustration, the directions are kinda crazy and the hardware is kinda crazy it's difficult to understand which way they want the some of the boards and some of the hardware to go because on some it makes a difference but it's not labeled as it is and let mention my mama didn't raise no fool I've put together so much furniture so I typically know what I'm doing and I typically stay calm but I cried three times in total swore like a sailor scared my dogs all in 8 hours. That's right I said 8 HOURS. HOWEVER I really like it ,it looks really nice and I'm loving the extra storage for bed stuff that I never really have the room for anywhere else and I hate the things go they make for under bed storage so if you got the time and the patience by all mean, there customer service is EXCELLENT, the only reason for the 4 stars you can guess is for the time spent ,and a piece came broken but they sent another only a day and a half later so that was awesome . I also ended up losing the directions so when I called customer service they not only talked me off the ledge but he emailed me the instructions and so just so helpful! So I recommend it for patience frugal yet likes styles crafty creative kind of people is who I would suggest this too.**☆☆HEADBOARD NOT INCLUDED ☆☆**

Ordered this bed about 3 or 4 weeks ago, installation was average. Took around 4 hours after everything was said and done. I ordered in white, I was happy with how everything was delivered. Nothing was cracked or broken, only issue was the line up of the top boards where the bed lays. The bottom four panels didn't line up as should and therefore there's a little gap which is rather noticeable depending on the bedding sheets you use. That honestly disappointed me big time, because other than that, the bed is beautiful and sturdy. I wish I could give it a 5 star if it wasn't for that, because it honestly takes away from the beauty of the bed frame as a whole. Other than that, if you could live with such a minor but yet important fact if you're OCD about fittings (I am), I would recommend. I will message seller about it, and hopefully he gets back. I will update with photos and progress on customer service. Other than that, it's beautiful and elegant.P.S. I have a King size bed and it was rather slipper, so I highly recommend getting a grip mat that's 5' x 8' if you have a King, or for whichever size your bed is.

The bed came and at the very end, when you place the boards on the base to make the surface for the mattress support, I found 4 boards damaged ( 2 B surface boards (corners damaged), 1 B2 surface board (corner damaged) 1 S drawer board(cracked). The bed went together but does not look new. I will be contacting customer support to see if they will replace the boards. The other issue I had is that the individual packages of the hardware had zero identification on them. You had to try and match up each item with a picture in the manual and there is a lot of hardware. I would say well over a hundred to 200 hundred pieces. The the manual, which had good pictures, had zero written words to describe how to assemble the bed frame. It is very involved, and when I say involved there is a crazy amount of construction that goes into building this bed frame, like 8-10 hours !!! Why is there no step by step written words? Picture are great and with very close scrutinization you can figure it out, but man does it slow you down. I will be updating this review after I talk to customer service. I'm very disappointed with the damage. !!!!!!!!! I WANT TO CLARIFY, THIS BED IS BUILT LIKE A TANK IT IS WELL DESIGNED, AND IF YOU HAVE A FOAM MATRESS YOU NEED THIS BED NOT ONE WITH SLATS!!!!!!!!!!!Update:I called customer and they were awesome!!!!!! They were WONDERFUL!!! and are sending replacement parts. This is company who stands by it's product. Do not hesitate to buy from them!!!

I bought this bed in august, my house was under renovation, so I didn’t set it up til February. The sections keep coming apart, the pressboard drawers fell apart. I now need to buy another. Aweful product

Decent platform for a mattress. Make sure you move into desired position before completing construction as it will not move easily afterwards and potentially do damage if tried.Will require complete disassembly for moving.I'm a very skilled builder with power tools and it took about 1 hour to assemble.Very easy to do so.

The bed is alright. It was easy enough to put together, however, it had no predrilled holes to attach the platform to the frame.

The bed itself looks good and the drawers are nice and large. The process of assembly wasn't too bad, just time consuming. It took my wife and I about 2 and a half hours. The wood seems cheap and I have my doubts about the longevity of the product but you can't complain for the price.

I was expecting something a little better than Ikea... but this is the only platform bed I could find in this style. This would have been alot better at a 250$ value instead of almost 500$
