Accurately portrays the actual level of difficulty of exam questions.
Studying for the PE Exam, I used the Mechanical Engineering Reference Manual (MERM), "Practice Problems for the Mechanical Engineering PE Exam" and "Mechanical PE Sample Examination" by Lindeburg in addition to this book. I noticed that the level of difficulty of the questions in the books by Lindeburg was far greater than that of this book. However, after taking (and passing) the exam, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the Six-Minute Solutions book accurately portrayed the actual exam questions, unlike the books by Lindeburg. My advice: use the MERM in conjunction with the Practice Problems by Lindeburg first, then move on to other practice problems / practice exams by Lindeburg. By this point, you'll be in full panic mode. Then, move on to this book last and realize that the exam won't be anywhere near as hard as Lindeburg made it seem! Good luck!

Strongly recommend this book
I don't have my test scores back yet but I think I passed, and this book was basically the only prep I did. I took off work for 2 days prior to the exam and I worked all 85 problems which took me about a day and a half. The rest of the time I spent making sure I had everything I needed for the exam and was organized and ready to go. So I would definitely recommend doing the same thing, but you should probably spend longer studying than I did and work an additional practice exam just to be safe.edit: I passed the PE exam. so I would highly recommend this book.

a must have
When I took the exam in 2008, this was one of two books that I had on my desk with me for the majority of my references. When I went to turn my test in, I noticed people from all discipines also had this book on their desks. This book is great because it goes over almost every type of problem you'll have on the afternoon exam. If you go through these solutions and figure out how they came to the solution, you'll be thoroughly prepared for the afternoon exam.

A Must-Have for HVAC-R Depth on the Mechanical PE Exam
This book provides 85 questions that are very similar in length and quality to the kinds of problems you will find on the real exam. If nothing else it stresses the fact that you should be bringing your ASHRAE hanndbooks as well as possibly a few ASHRAE standards to the exam.I made myself take this exam 3 times before the real test date. Each time I sat myself down and actually took the exam front to back only allowing myself two 4 hour sections to complete it. It really sharpens your timed test-taking skills. By the 2nd or 3rd time you take this test you should be able to finish the entire thing in 4-6 hours. At that point you should be wholly prepared to answer any exam question they'll throw at you in 6 minutes or less.I think I only saw 1 error in my book and it was minor and already covered in the errata.

good for review
this is a good book to be used to find more problems to practice the exam. that's going to be the key to this exam is to find as many practice problems that you can. The one thing to consider for this book, which is a little frustrating, is that it only focuses on HVAC problems and doesn't include problems for the "breadth" portion.

A good choice to boost confidence just before exam
A great way to prepare for the actual exam especially for HVAC depth. Lindeburg's MERM is very light on HVAC topics but this six-minute book fills that void. Demonstrates good practice of using the ASHRAE Handbooks as well. There is also a decent covergae of qualitative questions as well. This is great since the real exam does contains some qualitative problems. A little bit more difficult than the real exam but it is well worth it. Highly recommended!

Great test book
Great test book. Passed the test in one try and has many similar questions to whats on the exam. The questions are harder than the actual exam, which will make taking the real thing easier.Just be warned, this is really for the afternoon portion. The morning has questions on more topics than just HVAC.

Perfect for working problems, making mistakes, and figuring out what is the right way to do it.
This was the practice exam book that I used to work problems over and over (because they are hard!) before finally taking the practice exam put out by NCEES. By working these problems I felt very confident and did really well on the NCEES practice exam and ultimately passed the actual exam.
