not good for old consoles
it works but not great' the input button select on the device doesnt work, have to use the controller, and im just needing a convertor for the original xbox and this doesnt do it well at all, just like all other convertors i have tried on amazon the video quality is horrible for the OG xbox and video cuts in and out on it. I know theres nothing wrong with the xbox i have because i can hook it up to an older tv that already has the connections built in and works perfectly with a much better picture.

Works great
I purchased this for a project to transfer old movie film to a flash drive. Worked great. Retaining quality film from the past is very valuable as we are maintaining our family history for the future!!

Component(YPbPr) input is picky
TL;DR: Remote/Switch work great except YPbPr video. Great for every other input.I have a lot of classic and new game consoles. My setup is... messy. Before this, I was running an S-Video Switch, HDMI Switch, Composite Switch, HDMI Upscaler, and Composite Upscaler. Even pulling out of that out, did not resolve the issue with this device. Both of the YPbPr produce no video, regardless of console, cable, TV settings, or in-console settings. I was able to verify the cables and consoles were working without the 8:1 switch. The description of the switch states "1.If you don't get the right video/audio, please make sure to use the "auto-copy" button on the remote, and for analog inputs, turn off the display unit and then turn it back on should fix no video problem." There is no "Auto-copy" on the remote, and cycling the power does nothing. The specific test consoles were a PS2(with Sony-branded Component cables) and a WiiU(Nintendo-branded Component cables). [Side note: Did also try with the Wii, no luck. All 3 HDMI inputs, IR extender(for the remote), both Composite input, Coax input, and VGA all work. I don't have Digital Audio, so no comment. Only the video of the YPbPr inputs show no video. I was able to get video in black and white with a composite input on the Y of the Component inputs, but that was it. I did notice the On-screen display notated 1080p50hz. All of my stuff is NTSC-60hz. Perhaps the device was incorrectly assembled during the YPbPr section? Seems to be a common point in the reviews.Edit/Update: Purchased some alternative unbranded Component cables for the Wii, got video to work. Both Component inputs seem to work with that specific cable. Weird.

does not last
I have purchased 2 of these in the past, one in 2020 and one in 2023, both lasted a little over a year, but they also stopped working once not being switched for a couple weeks, could be something there. When they were working however, the first one worked great, but the second one I purchased did not work with the remote. so quality is a little iffy and don’t expect it to be a permanent solution.

Lasted barely a year…
It worked great at first. Bought to have the ability to switch inputs. Barely switched it from the main input, then it stopped working entirely out of nowhere. Hadn’t made it switch in about a month, turned on the tv, no signal. Bypassed this, and my Xbox worked just fine. This is not worth spending this kind of money if it’s just going to break in a year or two. Save your money and buy a name brand!

Died after almost a year
I bought this in February and everything was gravy until a week ago when I came home to discover all the lights that indicate the input channel were all lit up and the thing wouldn't work at all. Tried everything. No luck. It didn't last a year... a bummer since this is great for owning multiple cross-gen consoles.

Perfect switch
This switch is perfect for my son. Allows all his gaming systems, old and new, to be connected to the TV with one easy connection.

DO NOT BUY!
Bought this so that I could hook up all of my retro gaming consoles at once and toggle between the ones I wanted to play. At 8 possible inputs ( 4 Ypbpr/AV, 3 HDMI, and 1 VGA) going through one output (HDMI) it was the device with the highest amount of inputs I could find. At $100, even if it worked immaculately (it does not), that still would have been expensive for what it is.It arrived and I was excited to hook it up and play.It is a POS and literally does not work whatsoever. None of the Ypbpr ports, nor any of the HDMI ports. I didn’t try the VGA port because it’s pretty pointless anyway. I know I have it hooked up correctly because that’s what I do for a living; nevertheless, I have tried every possible configuration and not the first thing works. No display and no audio for anything.Even if it worked great (it does not work at all), the remote it came with (which does not work either) is the smallest, cheapest piece of crap ever.
