Decent coffeemaker, smart functions could be better.
I've had this electric/wifi coffeemaker for 2 weeks so I'll have to go with my first impressions so far:It arrived promptly and I was impressed with the packaging, found no problems there at all.The setup was fairly straightforward and simple using the enclosed instructions to download the IOS app and connect the coffeemaker to my network. I also went into my router settings and assigned a fixed IP address to the unit hoping to avoid connectivity issues that others have mentioned before installing the Echo skill.Once connected I was prompted to download and install a firmware upgrade which proceeded with no issues. One obvious problem from the outset was the poor quality of the LED/LCD? display on the front of the coffeemaker which was nearly impossible to read when I set the time, at times it seems that the bottom half of the display is missing and the center bar in the minutes display flashes repeatedly for some odd reason. Additionally, the Gourmia IOS app displays the connectivity state of the unit which often flashes between connected and disconnected with a corresponding flicker of the blue backlight on the LED display(?)The good news is that it works well, both through the Echo and the app and makes a much better pot of coffee than my older cheaper Black & Decker pot so I'm very happy with it's look and function though I have yet to try making a pot manually as I'm unable to read the display to see what I'm programming.Despite my fixed IP address I've encountered one instance where the unit went offline and became unavailable. Unplugging the unit and plugging it back in fixed the problem."Alexa, brew coffee" as easy as it sounds doesn't actually work. The app requires "Alexa, ask Chef Mia to make coffee" followed by a 3 step routine - Ground or beans? - Light, Medium or Strong? - How many cups? - before the coffeemaker actually begins brewing (the app also requires this). My personal preference has always been beans, medium, 10 cups and it would be nice to be able to save this as a default and use "Alexa, brew coffee" rather than play 20 questions with the Echo each time.Because of the way the smart functions are designed to require the user to have a Gourmia account using remote activation from their server the coffeemaker does not show up as an Echo compatible device in the Alexa app so there's no way that I see to include it in a routine so far.In summary I'm much happier with this than my previous coffeemaker and hopeful that the smart integration will improve over time (?)UPDATE: The issue with the display appears to have been resolved and is now clearly legible.UPDATE 2: While I've yet to encounter some of the issues that others have reported and the unit continues to work well, the coffeemaker can no longer be honestly described as Alexa compatible. Beginning near the end of 2018 any requests to the Echo to make coffee resulted in a long pause and a response of "There is an error. We are working on fix." The issue was resolved for about a week in January before returning again recently. The unit will still make coffee manually or through the app but the Echo functions have been pretty much non-existent for most of the past 6-8 weeks. Lowering my rating on this device as it's not as advertised until Gourmia finds a more permanent resolution to it's software issues

Product is a piece of crap, Gourmia SUCKS for not fixing the button problem..
3.23.19 I'm adding more to my review...DO NOT BUY THE ABSOLUTE PIECE OF GARBAGE. here we are only 3 months after I bought this crap and this morning I set up and brewed a pot of coffee....or at least tried to. My wife went to pour a cup and there was only a 1/2 pot....wtf? The other 1/2 was all over the counter top and the floor. After cleaning everything up (yay) I brewed a second pot...of sludge. Again...wtf? During this fun Saturday AM activity I noticed my strainer is now ripped...again only 3 months...no wonder so many grains in my cup. Curious because my wife and I ONLY spray it with water to clean it.You getting the picture here? Read my original post and then move along...DO NOT BY THIS GARBAGE! So if you have been reading the reviews you have seen that there is a little problem with the button that is pushed to open the lid, has a tendency of sticking.. It appeared by the reviews about 50% of people had no problems vs. those that did, plus I assumed that where this has been an ongoing issue that Gourmia would be well aware of this and would have taken corrective action. I assumed wrong. Now, a handy pair of pliers has become a basic necessity in making coffee. Gourmia, I wish to throat punch someone in your organization. Where is your quality control? So here is the good. Unit grinds coffee well. It brews a tasty pot. That's it. Here is the rest of the bad. Pot is only 10 cups...wtf Gourmia??? Should I also start drinking 10oz beers? I realize this is my fault for buying a 10 cupper but let me tell you....if you are used to brewing a 12 cup pot.....do not buy this junk. There is no light to show if the machine is on or not... Is the coffee hot? I don't know, where is the light? There is no button to turn off the machine when the coffee is all gone....WTF Over! The cover for the pot has plastic tabs to keep it in place...you know what I am talking about...Day 2 one broke off....piece of garbage! We tried programming this at the machine for auto start in the AM....never worked. Perhaps the only way to control this is by use of the app....don't know however because we could never get it working.... I want to give this 2 stars because it does grind well and make a good cup of coffee.....but it is too much of a crap made in china product it deserves negative stars and a quality control team that needs to meet me in the ring with a bunch of my fellow disgruntled PTSD veteran friends for a little conversation....This is why I hate people....this right here....whoever works for that company and turns out this CRAP!!

This coffee maker does NOT work like it says
Every day something new is wrong with this machine.Burned through a whole bag of whole bean coffee in a couple days...only managed 3 cups of drinkable coffee.....The clock has a 90 minute hour.??? So weird.....So you cannot program, it does NOT hook up to Alexa, it goes offline all the time and these are just to start....I called customer service 2 days after having it and they told me that they were on holiday ...how convenient...haven't heard anything back since my call. Total disappointment....Waste of money

Great coffee - But no Alexa's skill yet in Canada
Superb coffee machine! Compact, super easy to clean and makes a great coffee. The only big problem is that the Chef Mia skill is not yet available in Canada. Otherwise, I would have given five star because I love it. Best coffee maker for ages!Impeccable customer service, often responds the same day! Gourmia confirmed that the Alexa skill will be available very soon in Canada.Edit: After a week of use, I confirm it's my best coffee maker ever! Compact, wonderfully easy to clean and super fast thanks to its infusion at high temperature. It's my new love ...

WIFI does not work, useless machine.
I have not been able to make a single cup of coffee due to not being able to set up WIFI. What I thought I was buying: a smart coffee machine. What I actually bought: a piece of crap that I will be returning. Do NOT buy this machine.

Cheap quality and Google Assistant integration does not work
I bought this machine for the integration of Google Assistant. It does not work. No IFTTT either. I reached the customer service and they give me pretty evasive answers. The plastic quality is also pretty cheap and the top cover of the brewer does not close well. Very disappointed with this product. It will be a return.
