CMT811.127.11B Pattern Bit with Bearing, 1/4-Inch Shank,1/2-Inch Diameter, Carbide-Tipped

I used this to follow a pattern for some purpleheart wood cheese boards i was making for Christmas gifts.Purpleheart is a very hard wood and normally splinters very easy when cutting,planing,routing etc...So i was very impressed with the clean cuts while using this bit.

It is a Pretty good Bit. I like it Really good.

Kinda wish I would have gone with 1/2 shank instead because sometimes it’s necessary to have a hair more shank exposed so the bearing can be placed correctly - and 1/2 rigidity would help in these cases

Put this in a brand new Bosch router.. Bosch PR20EVSK Colt Palm Grip 5.6 Amp 1-Horsepower Fixed-Base Variable-Speed Router with Edge Guide ...turned the variable speed up and down, didn't matter...still smoked out on a 1/2 piece of black walnut. It went straight through some birch I had laying around.....(tested to see if the wood was the problem.....and yes.)I have never had a problem with CMT bits before......but this was my first run with a 1/4 inch router. I was hoping I could get more control with the smaller router...Anyway, I'll try again with a Whiteside bit, if that doesn't work I'll put the little router on a shelf somewhere, and go back to doing what I know works....the three stars....well, I work mostly with hardwoods.....and this combo, the bit in particular.....doesn't really.Update: The Whiteside bit(same scenario, exact same piece of wood) went right through...... quickly and precisely.I don't know if I got a bad CMT bit, or what. I am just saying, this is what happened.

Open my router bit box, and all you see is orange.For more than 20 years, I've purchased no router bits except CMT. Once I find a winner, I tend to stick with it.Italian craftsmanship at its finest.

Great bit for making dados with a Pattern, will buy again

I used this for installing counter tops. I have to say, I've never done counter tops before, and I probably won't again, but this bit was a life saver and worked great. It seemed to stay sharp and accurate throughout the process.

Very nice bit, however a word of warning. I ruined a very expensive piece of delrin plastic and and a template, because the factory did not tighten the set-screw on the collar above the bearing and I made a cursory check of it before using it. Guess what folks, it's just barely tight and it came loose and I ended up ruining the workpiece, and the template. I just want to give a head's up, check the setscrew it's 3mm, get a allen key and tighten good before using. It was a COSTLY LESSON FOR ME!

The bearing failed on the third use, destroying the MDF template I was making. I'm just thankful it wasn't an actual workpiece.

quando si parla di fresare ci parla nella maggio parte dei casi di precisione, di pulizia del lavoro... purtroppo si trovano in giro molte frese, anche molto economiche e promettono di lavorare bene e di essere precise... purtroppo non è cosi... per la mia esperienza le CMT sono probabilmente tra le migliori, costano, si è vero ma valgono tutti i soldi spesi.

Ottimo prodotto, anche dopo diverse ore di lavoro su legno medio duro (acero, mogano) tagliano sempre bene. Molto ben equilibrata. Ero in dubbio se acquistare un prodotto più economico, ma devo ammettere che vale tutti i soldi che costa.
