Treasure Gurus Antique Style Wood Folding Travel Writing Lap Desk

This product is actually made in India, feels greasy and poorly made....not Antique style made! HAD I KNOWN THIS WAS FROM USA, I WOULD NOT HAVE BROUGHT THIS! HAD TO PAY AN EXTRA £45.00 for import charges etc..... I have no option to keep this because it's so close to Christmas. If you do buy this for some strange reason, don't buy the clear cut glass inkwell antique reproduction thinking they'll fit inside the case. They don't !

I love this box for my needs. It was above my expectations. Many state it is small but I thought it was quite sufficiently sized for a portable travel writing desk. So, like Goldilocks, this box size was "just right" for me. I use pen and ink washes and wanted this box to place my bottled inks (I prefill with the washes before a sketch outing) inside while drawing outside, to not worry about spilling outside the box! I had that happen once while on vacation and it was not a pretty sight. Did not want to duplicate the experience. This box will keep the ink contained in case of spillage and it is a nice sturdy/heavy box to also make me feel more secure about keeping my inks upright while in use. The added bonus was the slant desk to hold my sketch/watercolor papers. I didn't even have that in mind when I purchased, I was more concerned about ink storage. The hinge is not the sturdiest and I expect to replace it. However, if this truly were an antique wood folding desk, I would be surprised if there was a functional hinge at this point. So, I don't mind. I appreciate the imperfections which again, seem to keep true to a reproduction of an antique writing box. I read the description thoroughly to know what I was getting so I am not disappointed in the least. As stated in other reviews, the drawer is removable and a Moleskine can be stored in that space. The paper storage divider is also removable. Hopefully I will remember to post photos to show how I am using it when I do my ink washes/sketches outdoors. It is heavy, but I wanted the sturdiness, I do not plan to go hiking with it, it is more of an urban sketch situation for me.

Love it! Has small compartments so I had to buy smaller office supplies I.e. post-its, notepad etc. to accommodate. No big deal. Made very well and looks terrific. Awesome buy if you're looking for something easy to carry and have around for your essentials.

I love this antique writing box. It appears very old. There is a place to hold my stamps or writing paper - note this will not hold 11 x 8.5 paper - it is smaller than that. Very heavy in weight. I store all my wax, seals, and stamps in it. It would hold some pencils and pens as well. It is beautiful on my desk. It might be nice to be larger but that would add weight and I think it functions well as it is. Love it.

The item was refused the first time my the front desk of the hotel and now I understand.Tha package was not safe enough.Besides that the item has no quality. It smells badly and it seems to be painted in an amateurWay.I wish I could never bought it.Now I do not have time to return this becauseI am from Brasil and I am leaving USA.I wish Amazon could do something.

It's a wee bit smaller than the picture makes it look, but the box is gorgeous, functional, and perfect as a mini writing desk. It also has a metal clasp, so if you want to use it as a cash box for a craft fair, it will fit a small lock...of course the box is so Steampunk and cool, that people may just want to buy your cash box...
