Wonderful Reference Book of Seashells
This is a great book for all that want accurate and specific identifications and information for hundreds of seashells from the Gulf of Mexico and shores of Texas and Florida. A great reference book with wonderful photos, common and scientific names of all the marine mollusks.

You WILL be able to identify your Texas Gulf shells
As a new “sheller” I pored through several NA sea shell guides as well as online sites, struggling to identify the shell pieces I’ve been finding on South Padre Island. My husband just bought me this book for my birthday and it is such a fantastic resource! Use the other guides and websites for each seashell’s particular natural history (very little is given in this book) but you will know exactly which mollusk to look up after identifying it in this wonderful encyclopedia.

Comprehensive review of Texas seashells
This book is for the specialist. It is well organized, with clear language describing various aspects of each mollusc - e.g., how common or rare it is; where it is typically found. The photographs are beautiful and well connected to the text.

Incredibly informative book
I had seen this book in Texas Highways Magazine a couple of years ago, and failed to make my purchase at that time. However, Amazon had it in stock, and it arrived quickly. The book is interesting, informative, and offers much more useful information than I actually expected. The photos are great, and make identifying shells much easier than any book I've used in the past.I'm extremely pleased with this book, and am so happy I found it at Amazon!

Too extensive and advanced for everyday shell collectors.
Very advanced learning tool for serious shell collectors and college students.

Not just about Texas
I have found the book very useful in the Eastern Gulf of Mexico, as one might expect, since so many GOM mollusks occur through out the Gulf. I like the high resolution color photographs and the ecological chapters that precede the taxonomic section. I found it on Amazon for about 30 dollars, you might find a better deal. If you are interested in shells and marine environments characterized by Mollusca, this will be a useful addition to your library, even if you have the classic Texas books by Jean Andrews and others. Very impressive artistically, I thought.

I thought this was pricey when I ordered it. When I received it, I realized I got a great deal! This is the size of a text book. The photos are extensive and the information on each species is detailed. This will be a family favorite at the beach.

Encyclopedia of Texas Seashells
I love the hardcover. It is one of the best books ever written about North American Mollusks. However, I was very disappointed with the Kindle version. I found it very difficult to use and tedious to navigate. The hardcover was for me an excellent investment. The Kindle version was a waste of money.
