The Philosophy of Andy Warhol (From A to B and Back Again)

The Aura of Andy Warhol
The Philosophy of Andy Warhol is an interesting read. First impression of the book appears strange with the introduction consisting of the conversation between "A" and "B." It seems like you get a glimpse of Warhol's strange mind, yet it is short lived, you realize its an every day conversation he has with a friend. It seems that through out the book you come to know Warhol as an everyday person. This creates or breaks the aura we most commonly associate with artists, especially ones of his remarkable caliber. His autobiographical approach opens a window into his life and mind, showing that he too is human with flaws and ambitions as anyone else.Andy Warhol opens a window on his creative mind showing what sort of things go through his mind. At times the thoughts seem random, but you get a sense of were he is going with the ideas. He talks about various things, everything from love, to death, to beauty. It is really interesting to see that much of what he says has some type of truth to it which most people can relate to. Andy Warhol's superstar status within the art worlds has always left him with what he would call an "aura" which was really a fabrication of ones imagination. It was not until someone got to know him that this aura would be broken down. In essence, "The Philosophy of Andy Warhol" dismisses some of this aura generated by media and literature. An overall fun read.

Wish he hadn't left us all so soon.
Andy Warhol shares a great deal about himself here with a simple and uncluttered writing style. I've always been a great fan of his artwork and his films, and this book offers a unique opportunity to take a peek inside the wonderfully bizarre and brilliantly creative mind that developed them. Andy's thinking and creative process come alive on the printed page for readers, and his honesty and unself-conscious manner of expressing ideas is truly refreshing. This book makes a wonderful, entertaining read not only for Andy Warhol fans, but also for anyone interested in following the creative development process of a true original and a gifted artist. Wish he hadn't left us all so soon.

A Must Read for Warhol Fans
This is Andy as he wants to be known - introverted, funny, real and insightful. Not a great writer, but fun to pick up and check in - like Andy does with his "Bs" in the book. The 20 page stream of consciousness diatribe on cleaning just sneaks up on you. Buy two copies; share it with a friend, then take a walk through the Warhol Museum.

This book makes me smile.
New York City was a much funner place when we had spotting‘s of Andy Warhol around the city. Between him and mayor Ed Koch New York City was like Disneyland. In this day and age where everyone is on their cell phones we’ve lost so much. Many people say Andy would've embraced social media as a new form of art but I’m not sure . He did have a way of poking holes in technical perfection and showing the human aspect and he probably would’ve found something that we haven't discovered yet. This book makes me smile. It’s silly fun and an easy read.

Intimate and real
Quite real. Thank you very much. A genius who suffers sharing insights about his artistic world. We all suffer on different degrees. Andy openly shares his valuable insights.

I would have liked to see more examples of his work in accompaniment ...
I never appreciated the philosophy of Andy until I attended a showing of his work side by side with Georgia O'Keeffe's work. Of course I was prejudiced in favor of O'keeffe. However when I saw their work side by side, I could see a similarity in their philosophies that I had never imagined.I would have liked to see more examples of his work in accompaniment of all the wordiness of the book. What is the saying: "A picture is worth a thousand words".

Warhol Captivator
I couldn't put this one down. He covers all the bases in this write: spilling the beans on his social circle and then the intimate details of his personal life. He's a great motivational speaker when comes to lighting that match required to complete overlooked housework. I made a special trip to the grocery store just to purchase a bottle of Endust to kick off my spring cleaning project. Lemon Pledge is now history. Thanks for the cleaning tips Andy. Who would have ever known you cleaned your own living quarters.

I mean it's Waaarhoool. How can you go wrong?
The quotes are priceless and it gives you an interesting insight into how Andy Warhol thought. Some of the paragraphs run a little long, but when he is on point, he is sharp. I bought this for my 10 year old and I am glad I decided to read it first. It's not really for children, especially the first chapter.Overall a very good read. Well worth the price.

i like boring things
