Founded in April, 1999, aFe was created to address an obvious need in the automotive aftermarket industry: a lack of choice for a high performance aftermarket air filter. Huge, high-flow conical air filters are the first step to increased airflow to the engine. Steel heat shields or molded plastic air boxes keep hot air out and fresh, cold air flowing to the filter. Velocity stacks and precision-designed intake tubes provide smooth, uninterrupted airflow to the turbo or throttle body. aFe Power offers different styles of air intake systems to meet the needs of your power hungry engine. For the largest possible performance gain replace the entire air box and intake tract with our STAGE 2 open element air intake system. If you want to maintain a factory appearance our STAGE 2 Si sealed air box provides quiet power. For a great value and easy installation our STAGE 1 air intake systems adds instant horsepower and torque. All of our cold air intake systems are manufactured and assembled at our Corona, California facility.

Couldent ask for better well I kinda can
I have been running this intake in my car for a about a month now it has gave my car some nice pep and gives a nice air intake sound fuel economy hasn’t really changed much now why did I give it 4out of 5 starts that’s because in the photos shown there is no afe logo on top of the lid the one I got has one and you really can’t take it off. Also the lid was extreamly hard to install because the holes in the air box where the screws would be screwed in do not line up well at all very poor manufacturing process it took pushing and pulling to get each screw threaded and I am dreading when it’s time to clean the air filter because this would need to be removed

Good Unit.. Definite increase in airflow
First, contrary to advertised here on Amazon, this unit does install on a 2013 BMW 128 (E82). It also takes a couple of weeks to ship.It took all of three minutes to remove the factory unit and Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor.. It then took another 40 minutes to install the new unit. This was due to a few issues. Some of the design engineering is a little questionable as far as installation.1. The MAF gasket is too thick for the included fasteners and needed to be cut down slightly to install correctly with the supplied fasteners.2. One of the mounting fasteners to the frame is next to impossible to install and requires you loosen everything back up and "fish" for invisible bolt holes. This is something that could have easily been designed a bit better.3. The included fasteners are a bit short. I used the stock mounting fasteners with the new unit. The mounting grommets are also too soft and allow the unit to move slightly over time. This would have been great with a hard plastic / rubber combination grommet4. The filter media will definitely increase supplied intake air, but like typical K&N systems, they allow a lot more debris through. While I live in a area with relatively clean air, a free flowing secondary filter media would be a good option. I opted for the "Dry" filter media because I have had problems with K&N type "oiled" filters fouling MAF sensors over time.Installation observations:1. The supplied silicone gasket to the intake manifold is "keyed" and has to go on in a certain position to allow it to seal properly. This is not mentioned in the installation instructions. If you look inside the gasket on the engine side, you will see a notch that will correspond to the "bump" that is on the intake pipe. This is easy to overlook but a potential serious problem if not installed correctly and could lead to dirty air being pulled in as well as MAF sensor issues with incorrect air flow readings.2. Leave all fasteners loose until all bolts are correctly threaded and all components are correctly in place. The unit has to be manipulated quite a bit to accomplish this and that cannot be done easily with any fasteners tightened down.3. I installed a small circle of thin adhesive foam tape around the intake tube to where it meets the inside of the box before fastening to keep engine area debris out.4. Be very careful when transferring the mass air flow sensor. This is a very delicate sensor and can be easily damaged by ambient dirt or shock.. Do not touch the exposed sensor wires or use any cleaning products on these.. A replacement will be a couple hundred $ at the very least.5. I used two small circles of 3M VHB adhesive tape and some thin filter media on the inside of the box to cover the two side open ports to limit debris from entering the filter box from the front of the vehicle. For the money, it's a good intake box for the E82 series. As a product engineer, I'm probably a little anal-retentive but there are some, "common sense" things about this design that had me laughing. Overall, this combined with an Active Autowerke re-map and a few other things, it's definitely breathing better and is a noticeable difference throughout the useable RPM range and makes the car more fun to drive.

Easy install, for the most part
I put this on my 2011 BMW 328i coupe. Give the car a little bit of a sound, without the exhaust, and does give it a little bit of power, and helps with gas mileage. One or two extra miles to the gallon. I'll take it! Gives my car a manly sound in the "cockpit" and outside the car as well. You can hear it slightly around 3000rpm. The few times I have beat up my car and taken it to 5k-6k rpm, it sounds manly also. Easy install, for the most part. The housing was easy to get in, everything lined up, very simple install. The only issue I had was fitting the pipe to the engine. I had to take a wrench and bend the slitted end on the intake, and it fit on seamlessly. I have brought it to the dealership with this installed, and they have not said anything to me either. I actually had the service tech comment on it, and said it was one of the nicer ones he has seen, and it sounded great. Be careful when you bring your car in under warranty... some guys will void your warranty, the dealerships here won't... an easy 15 minute swap out before and after will be worth it.

Installation instructions and hardware are lacking, noise is subjective, but does add a little hp and MPG over US BMW intake
As others have noted, the installation instructions and the hardware are both lacking, but the product does seem to add a little power and more MPG. Some like the sound. At wide open throttle and stock exhaust, it sounds better, and probably even better with a modified exhaust, but at mild acceleration around 3000 RPM with stock exhaust, it resonates with a hoot that is not so cool. That being said, the hoot indicates when the intake is really starting to draw air, and if you use that for your signal to back off the throttle a little, you will get more MPG.Despite these drawbacks, it does seem to work, but if I had to do it over, I might consider the BMW's Euro air intake, which has a similar box and air filter, but no hp claim is available, instead of paying more money for this one.

You WILL feel the difference!
I ordered this on a Friday, got it the next Monday, three days later. The car sounds amazing. You will feel that extra pull when you take off. When installing, don't assemble the unit then install it as a whole. Take it piece by piece. Install the Mass AirFlow sensor, put the intake tube into the housing. Put the semi assembled peices into the engine compartment. Connect the tube to the engine head. Affix the intake tube to the housing. Then all should fall into place. Not disappointed at all!

easy installation, a must for all cars which need the extra little
Definitely a noticeable whine when you step on it +3000RPM.Changes the throttle response and almost helps shift easily without any jerkiness, if its a manual transmission.Increased my fuel economy a must I would say for all 2006 325i'sVery easy installation,

Works great on 2006 330i (e90)
Great intake. I installed this on my 2006 330i, e90 chassis, and it took only about 45 minutes to do...I even had it same day delivered. Funny how fast we can get stuff now. Anyway the change in the sounds at and above 3000rpm are a great improvement. I would even say the car is slightly more powerful however I have nothing to measure that with great buy, fair price.
