I bought this for research for a presentation I was doing; great tips and lots of case studies. Would recommend for anyone wanting lots of information on best practice around how to properly onboard new hires.

Creative Onboarding Programs, by Doris Sims, is a great collection of onboarding, orientation and new hire experiences from a wide variety of organizations and contributors. If you are looking to get a sense of what companies are doing around getting their new hires up to speed,getting engaged in their roles and "getting the culture" than you will find this book to be a valuable resource. Don't be intimidated by its size, use the table of contents to find what you want to research and read it in sections. Doris has included something for everyone, regardless of the size of your organization or where you are in developing your onboarding program.

This book provides practical, useful information and case studies which can be applied a variety of organizations. It is straightforward and readable, and contains a lot of great samples that can be used to create your own tools.

The book is well written and offers depth and plenty of ideas as well as thorough explanations of process, protocol, rationale and outcomes. The actionable tools will elevate an onboarding program from one that orients to one that engages and increases employee experience in the long run.

This book gives you good onboarding examples of what other companies are doing out there. Lots of tools to choose from if you need forms or a planning tools. The downfall is I was not able to access the tools - I had to re-type or recreate. Overall a good book.

I did not find the programs to be very creative and had hoped there might be more ways of onboarding in the pages that are relevant to small companies. These are mostly activities to play during an orientation rather than a full onboarding program. In a small organization, it is irrelevant for the one new hire and myself to play an activity. I was looking for some suggestions on how to make it a little less monotonous and did not find applicable solutions here.

This book is perfect for professionals responsible for developing, improving, and delivering a new employee orientation program from top to bottom. It includes information on every step of the onboarding process and even reminded me of some steps I hadn't thought of. Absolutely worth the price.
