Outstanding book
This book is not very thick, but the author packs into it an extreme amount of valuable data on how to select, time, and invest in biotech stocks. The author shows you specific methods for researching and selecting your biotech investments, without having to have any type of indepth knowledge in the biotech world. He even gives you advice on organizing your research data. The author then goes on in providing different detail methods in evaluating and implementing your investments. The author provides clear cut examples of how to make your biotech investments using options (both puts and calls) and how to hedge your investments to minimize risks while maximizing potential gains. The author does assume you have an existing knowledge of options, and he tells you this early in the book. If you do not have an indepth knowledge and understand of options and the different option strategies (which I did not) I still highly recommend this book. Then do like I did and find a separate book that simply deals with learning to understand options. If you are like me though and are thinking about focusing on biotech investing, or perhaps are already investing in biotechs, and want to learn how to improve your results while hedging against the risks... then I highly, highly recommend this book. I definitely feel it is the best investment I have ever made on the subject of investing in biotechs. One last comment, to those reading my review: I have absolutely no connection with the author, the publisher, or any other associated party related to this book. I am simply an individual investor that was, and is, trying to continue to advance my knowledge and improve my own investing skills. I simply came across this book on Amazon, while looking to see what books were available on biotech investing.

The biotech trader hadbook second eddition exopabdeded
I my profession I try to understand the meaning of the words that surround me, to digest and implement new information, and act on it preferably by changing may behavior TODAY!Life is to shot I read about ten books in options, but which is the best?I think the books are like an exercise machines most of them collect dust in the corner, except for ones that you actually use. Some of the books I was not able to understand because of my limited mathematical knowledge, but the majority are written in very confused languish, by brilliant people that have no practical use in real world of none professional trader. As I Professor of Psychiatry of 30 years affiliation with Ivy League Medical Schools I noticed that highly intelligent people write very simple, like Freud or almost incomprehensible like Schopenhauer.Tony book is the smallest of all books; it's like a little shiny diamond written in very undestandle and usable way. He writes: To estimate price movement we add Call premium and Put premium we get 5, 95(=2, 75+3.2).Now we subtract and add the total premium value to the correct share of the price of XYZ $ 7.5 to get 1.55 and 13.54I am waiting for kidle eddition

Is it missing some chapters??
The book seems to be missing some chapters?!?! For example, how exactly to 'handicap' a phase III trial? It goes into no detail on the though process to establish a bullish, bearish, or neutral bias. Although it does clearly explain the ancillary information that might be required in analyzing a biotech company (cash burn, potential value, insider activity, and potential dates) it has no chapter or discussion on how to even begin to determine if a specific drug will pass/fail Phase III trial. Now granted that may be impossible to do in reality with a high degree of probability, but there is not a single case study of a trade to go through the entire process. Also missing is any discussion of how to obtain analysts estimates as a retail trader since most is only available to institutional clients. That being said the book does do a decent enough job explaining what it does have chapters on including analyzing the cash positions of a firm and creating trading strategies around a specific bias. Unfortunately it never goes into how to exactly establish the bias via explanation or case studies. Finally the author alludes to many possible potential short term trading opportunities such as a tendency for stocks and volatility around or after a specific announcement, but never elaborates on any. A chapter on this alone would've been worth 10x the price.Mr Pelz has done a pretty good job with this one but it's only HALF COMPLETE. If the author reads this, please contact me!

Well written and fast paced
Mr. Pelz has written a fast paced guide to understanding confusing world of Biotech and the very confusing world of options. He takes you step by step through the process of evaluating a company, as well as the pitfalls of trading with options and how to avoid them. He includes several real world examples, and finally, provides information on available current internet resources and the use of social media like twitter in trading.

A perpect guide for person looking for profit in biotech sector
It is very detailed technical guide for people without too much knowledge about biotech sector. However, this book is really matched for its title: HANDBOOK, by which one can easilyfind or identify almost all companies in this sector with potential profit margin to hunt.In brief, 2 things need to be emphasized with the value of the author contributing to this book:1. A full list of S-M scale of companies in biotech sector;2. A series of price structure for traders to appoaching potential option trades.I personlly followed one of the trade structure guided by the author, the result lined belowis shown the real thing or the true value:Buy 100 3 Strike NOV Put @ 0.37 Result Lost -0.37Sell 100 9 Strike NOV Put @ (4.03) Profit +0.01Buy 100 10 Strike NOV Call @ 0.63 Lost -0.63Sell 100 4 Strike NOV Call @ (3.01) Profit +2.03 Total P: 1.04 Amount = 1.04 * 100(00) = $10,040Cool!
