No method book is perfect. I would often change books every few years ...
I am a school string/orchestra teacher with 40 years experience. I have used practically every method book for school use ever written going back to Muller-Rusch and Sam Applebaum. No method book is perfect. I would often change books every few years in search of the "perfect" book. In the last four years, this book has been my choice. It seems that a lot of thought went into this book by the two authors. I really like the video DVD that comes with the book. It is EXTREMELY helpful as the videos reinforce the first few lessons in the book. That is a time when there is a lot of confusion for the students and to have that there for them to use at home is a blessing.

Easy for beginner cello
It was easy to follow for an elementary student and includes code for online resources. One of the online resources is accompaniment they can play along with that has adjustable tempo.

It is really neat.
My son is starting orchestra this year and needed this book. I like it because it has an instructional video that comes with it. My only complaint about the book is that it doesn't give much information about the note fingerings. I don't know where to place my fingers to make a specific note and there are no diagrams.

Perfect Beginner Book for Cello
This is perfect for beginning cellists. I really like the String Basics series for beginner strings players. It's very informative and comes with lots of instructional tips and hints. The DVD is also really helpful.
