As a fifth grade teacher who has students taking the state science tests, I have found this book, along with the fifth grade version, to be invaluable. It reviews the key concepts that will be on the state test in a precise way, giving just enough salient information to help you to review the most important points necessary for understanding and to insure great performance on the tests!! The format of the book is very helpful - after giving the information, there are FOUR choices for testing in each section - multiple choice, fill in the blank, true/false, and matching. This allows you to give a helpful test following the unit, then you are enabled to retest several times periodically to make sure the tidbits of information are retained during the year and near the testing. I HIGHLY recommend this book for teachers and home schooling parents who wish to follow the state mandated curriculum easily.

I home schooled my granddaughter using this book. She really enjoyed it because it offered discussion suggestions, experiments as well as a breakdown of reading material in each unit. I liked it because it addressed her individual learning needs by having 4 different assessments after each unit's briefs. The assessments included multiple choice, sentence completion (fill in the blanks), true and false, and matching as well as completing and labeling a diagram. It helped her to learn the materials by looking back and finding any answers that she did not recall. The repetition just worked very well for her.'
