We spend 90% of our time indoors where the air is often 2 to 5 times worse than the air outside (EPA, August 2022). Review: Everyone should own an Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) monitor - First of all radon is no joke. I learned about radon many years ago when I moved to a state/county that is classified as EPA's Zone 1 for radon risk. I knew nothing about radon back then however the city/county did a fairly good job educating people about the dangers of this gas. One day I saw this big "Got Radon?" sign by the side of the road with a website to learn more about it. I was curious and followed through. What I learned was very concerning and questioned why I knew about the "dangers" of "mold" and not about a RADIOACTIVE gas that was lingering around my house. I think the answer is that we are obsessed with things that have short term impact but tend to bury our heads under the sand when we need to look ahead in the future 5, 10 or more years. We simply like to think the problem is not there because it is difficult for our brains to register the danger without immediate threat (like a scratchy throat). To cut the story short, I bought a radon test kit and the results came back at 10 PCi/L. We immediately took action and installed a radon mitigation system. Learning that radon levels can fluctuate I always dreamed of having a device that could constantly measure the levels of radon inside our house. Therefore I was thrilled when I found the Wave while browsing for IAQ monitors. We have own the device for a couple of months now, so sharing our thoughts: 1) This is a CONSUMER GRADE device, therefore users expectations should be accordingly. The value of owning this device is not to have a measure comparable to professional grade equipment but to have a close idea if you have a radon issue (consistent measures above the recommended threshold taken over a long period of time) or if your home is ok (consistent measures below the recommended threshold taken over a long period of time). This device will show you just that. In terms of accuracy of radon measurements, although we have only been measuring for a few weeks, we now live in an EPA Zone 3 county and we have seen Wave levels consistently measuring below recommended threshold. 2) This device measures CO2 (carbon "dioxide") not CO (carbon monoxide). I read some reviews about people's CO alarm not sounding when the Wave was registering high levels of CO2. Well, these are 2 different things. 3) In terms of temperature and humidity, we own several monitors in our home. Wave's measurements are comparable to these devices. I would say the wave is consistently 1 or 2 degrees above the cheaper "accurate" devices we have in the house. Same for humidity % 4) VOCs measurements are very impressive. We can immediately see the changes in results even with subtle things like sweeping the floors or bringing a box inside our home with things that had been in storage. We just bought a few Wave Minis to place them in the bedrooms as well. This monitor has helped confirm that passive and active ventilation are key to keep VOCs levels below recommended thresholds! 5) The app works well and is pretty user friendly. We had no issues downloading or using the app in our phones or iPad. Also, no issues registering the device. I think the level of information is what we need and it is great to have access to historic data. 6) Finally, this device requires CALIBRATION. The instructions clearly state that you need to place the device in its intended environment for 7 days to allow for proper calibration. We did exactly that and it seems to be working just fine. Overall highly recommended if you want a comprehensive view of the quality of the air you are breathing inside your home. I am hoping 5 years from now Indoor Air Quality equipment will be required, as smoke detectors are today.
Review: Airthings View Plus, Wave Plus, Wave Enhanced - We have three fan/purifiers already, but they do not report Radon or CO2. However, they do report HCHO, and NO2. Now our air quality coverage is through. I’m not concerned with Radon in my home, but I am concerned about CO2. My first purchase was a View Plus and Wave Enhanced. I was reluctant to purchase because on the web I didn’t see good descriptions of the products; what they reported, and how they worked together, especially the Hub function. There is information and user guides on the web, but they are not .pdf or downloadable. The product comes with the typical start-up guide, but that’s pretty much it. So, the consumer must self-inform concerning product, set-up, and how best to use it. The premise is that the customer is already informed about air quality and tech advantages. I struggled through understanding the “Hub” benefits and function. The Hub costs more so it would be nice to know all the benefits. I consider myself about 6 on a on a tech savvy scale but struggled with setting up the Hub and connectivity at first. Clear, precise instructions, and downloadable owner manuals would have been helpful Once set-up I am thoroughly satisfied with Airthings. Now I monitor air quality and take appropriate action like opening windows to mitigate high CO2, VOC and PM levels. After the first set-up I did have a connectivity problem and followed all the web-based troubleshooting directions. Finally, I sent an email, as chat takes forever and is time consuming. The email function says they have up to 24 hours to respond. Within an hour Don contacted me by email and after two or three exchanges he elevated it up to their tech service department. In the course of that time the issue was resolved. The next day it occurred again and was resolved by the IT department within hours. Don was appreciative of the follow-up report and Airthings accepted responsibility for the digital problem. For me, it was the initial set-up and troubleshooting that was tiresome. Once resolved everything was nominal. After my first experience and the excellent customer service from Don I decided to purchase the Wave Plus for total home coverage. That set-up was seamless, easy peasy. I’m highly satisfied with the residential Airthings product line. Yes, they are pricey; but their customer support is in parallel, their product quality is unsurpassed. Although not made in the USA they are a quality European product, and I would rather support Europe than China. Last comment. Wait until they are on sale and then jump om it.

**Q: Where should I place the monitor for best results?**
A: Only indoors (never outdoors), when placing it avoid areas of high ventilation as it could skew the results. We recommend placing it in areas where people gather like the kitchen or living room. Can be placed on a surface or wall-mounted.

**Q: Will I have accurate measurements from day 1?**
A: Humidity, temperature and air pressure are ready from day 1. CO2 and VOC sensors adjust to the environment during the first week. For radon, your device shows the first 24-hour average after a day of data, but wait until after the first month to act.

**Q: Why wait at least 30 days before acting on your measured radon level?**
A: Radon levels fluctuate due to weather changes, so a longer test provides a more accurate average, as short-term tests may miss this. Levels can take days to a month to stabilize within ±10% accuracy. Waiting at least 30 days ensures reliable results.

**Q: Does this device come with Bluetooth connectivity?**

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Radon Detection was a C at best. Overall a very comprehensive detector with good performance.

Detection Accuracy: RADON - C TVOC Accuracy - A+ CO2 - A HUMIDITY - A TEMP - A PRESSURE - A The good: This is a very comprehensive detector that is easy to use. The Phone APP is 5/5 stars. It tracks 48 Hours, 1 week, 1 month, even 1 year! The graphs used are easy to read and interactive. Selecting different options and different detectors (I purchase 4 total) is extremely simple and straightforward. I tested 4 of these units placed in different locations (2 in my basement). I found the accuracy of all the readings to be what was promised except for RADON. Temp and Co2 - I vented my basement and the temp sensor responded accurately for the decrease in temp as well as the increase when I shut the windows. Same with Co2 levels and air pressure which was a little more challenging to test. Humidity was in the yellow on my Airwave Plus detector in my great room. I placed a humidifier nearby and this unit responded with accurate readings as promised. The humidifier ran out of water and the readings dropped. The Airwave Plus detector responded reporting accurate readings again for the decrease. TVOC detection - This was impressive. The VOC readings responded with accurate and detailed readings when the Radon technician was using glue to seal my sump pump. Again the readings decreased overtime as the glue fumes disapaited. The readings from the 2nd closest detector also responded with a graph curve almost identical to the closest detector except for slightly lower readings (70ft away in the same basement). The bad: Radon detection was off by what I think is an unacceptable amount. This detector has an accuracy issue when adjusting to fluctuations in Radon levels resulting in higher averages over the short and long term. This could be difference between your home being within "acceptable" EPA levels of 4.0 pCi/L or above acceptable limits. My testing showed that Radon levels would be up +2 pCi/L higher than actual amounts after 1 week. I purchased an AIRTHINGS Corentium Home Radon detector (see attached picture) and placed it next to the unit. The Airthings Corentium detector unit would read -1 lower and almost match the professional certified Radon tester used by the professional Radon Technician. Here are the current readings of three detectors next to my sump pump with the newly installed radon mitigation system - Airthings Airwaves Plus - 1.2 pCi/L (same for long term) Airthings Corentium Home - 0.43 pCi/L (0.75 pCi/L long term) SunNuclear Professional Certified - 0.19 pCi/L (0.62 pCi/L long term) Summary: Everything performed up to my expectations except for the Radon detection. Radon detection DID WORK but it was just a little too high to earn a B grade or higher. Prior to the radon mitigiation system the levels in my basement (worst part of my home) averaged around 5.7 pCi/L (long term, 1 week) when using the Airthings Airwave Plus. The Airthings Corentium Home would always be 1 pCi/L lower on average. The professional certified Radon unit that was used by the Radon technician was 2 pCi/L lower short term (48 hours) and 1 pCi/L lower long term (1 week). Did I really have a serious Radon problem? Probably not one over 4.0 pCi/L (average) and certainly not one over that amount year round. It's winter season where I live, rain / snow, etc. Radon is considerably worse under these conditions. However Airwave Plus detector would be red constantly indicating a serious problem that needed to be addressed immediately. On the positive side I do like the fact that the Radon reported was HIGHER rather than LOWER. That at least alerted me to a potential issue so I can check it out with a professional. Ultimately I did install a Radon mitigation system because of the Airwaves Plus. Better safe than sorry?
