How is the base on these headphones and are they worth buying?.

I think the bass is very good on these headphones and I don't have any issue with sound. Great sound quality and noise cancelling, and they are really compact (which is why I love them, perfect for traveling). I would recommend them personally, especially if you travel.

Do these headphones have a microphone built in? or is the microphone on the cable?

built in be wary though as customer service is really poor

Are they still comfortable after a few hours use?

I don't think there is anything special about my ears but these are not comfortable for long periods I can assure you! Everything else is fine with them but I'm disappointed that they clasp your head too tight. I was comparing them to the Jabra ones for a similar price that I wear for work and although the material around the ear is soft and equally spongy on both, on these AKGs the part that goes over your head has a stronger spring in it that holds the head just a bit too tight for my liking.

Does the noise cancelling work when plugged in using a AUX cable, like when on a plane?

The noise cancelling works when using an AUX cable, but they have to be turned on to do so. You can't turn noise cancelling on, without also turning on the headphones bluetooth functionality, so even if they weren't paired they'd still be searching for other devices. Don't know whether this affects your scenario of 'on a plane', but I'm pretty sure you're allowed bluetooth devices on a plane...
