The music on this LP put Chet Baker on the scene not just as a brilliant trumpeter, but also as a talented singer. The original 10” LP "Chet Baker Sings" (Pacific Jazz JLP-11) was a revelation at the time and won Baker new fame and a new audience, which was more familiar with pop music than jazz. The reasons are quite clear: Chet’s voice is tender and beautiful, and at the same time his phrasing always swings and surprises. Includes 2 Bonus Tracks - 4 1/2 STARS ALL MUSIC GUIDE Review: Chet never sounded better... - The king of cool, west coast jazz. Although fairly polarizing, Chet's voice is a thing of beauty to my ears - and has never sounded better than it does here. The man is the gold standard of the vulnerable vocal! The definitive version of My Funny Valentine is here too. Well worth the money. Pour a glass of red wine, light a candle and sit back & unwind to this masterpiece. Review: beautiful - I love Chet Baker singing, and this CD is just beautiful, packaging and sound. All his best vocal performances here. And astoundingly cheap [I paid less than £5]. Well worth it for both fan and casual punt.

Chet at his best
Chet Baker at his best. Well worth the money and an instant collection in itself.

An acquired taste.
An acquired taste but nicely done. I prefer my Jazz a bit livelier but there is no denying the quality on show here.

The thrill is NOT gone
Bought this one on 180g vinyl and its a thrill; The music is alive - jazz on vinyl is the perfect match! Not the best singer in the music history but he has a good portion of charm, Baker. Some of the songs are rather flat but the majority are beautiful. Light the candles, open a bottle of red and let this one take you back to the 50`s.

LP is fantastic, Single not so much
Obviously a wonderful record. The 12" LP is of excellent quality. The 7" disc on red vinyl came without an inner sleeve and had significant surface noise even after cleaning. Not rating any lower than this because the 7" was really just a bonus.

Good but more complete set of recordings available
I am sure that these recordings are excellent, but be aware that there is a superb alternative with 3 CDs and a more complete set of recordings, also on Amazon: Chet Baker Sings - Complete 1953-62 Vocal Studio Recs.

This is one of the best vinyl purchases I have ever done. Fast shipping and great sound.

If there ever was an album that cried out to be spun on vinyl, it’s this one. Just set it turning, drop the needle and suddenly you’re on a shabby couch in a college dorm room in 1953, making out with a co-ed in glasses who has no idea how cute she is or what’s she’s going to be whispering in your ear by the time the album spins to a close. Am I getting carried away? Sure — that’s what this LP, in its devious and sinuous way, is all about.

Oltre al 33 giri, c'è il 45 giri. Anche in altri siti vendono questo lp ma solo con il 33 giri dentro. Ed in più il 45 giri è colorato, è proprio bello. Ottimo sound. Purtroppo spedizione lunghissima, quasi 1 mese dai Paesi Bassi, mi è arrivata prima merce da Cina.
