Thanks to anyone mentioning on the paperback books and to the note at the top that this book comes in large print. The large print book is done so you can keep it by your work table and flip the pages as you work. It makes it easy to glance over at the pictures and read the text.I have taken out many books from the library on polymer clay but never saw this one. Even if I had, I might have bought this one. It is an excellent book for a beginner to own. The author does not go into a lot of details or history of polymer clay but it does provide easy laid out photos and step by step instructions for actually working with clay and shows you different processes. It really got me to picking up clay and working with it. My first one was tackling the abstract Kaleidoscope and to do that you have to learn the blending Skinner technique. Plenty of books have that but having the step to step in nice sized text makes this book stand out.As some people mention it has quite a few floral descriptions but I take this as just showing a method which one can use their own creativity to figure out what else one can create with clay. Though anyone can find a lot of videos and tutorials online, I found that having the book to glance out while working with the clay very helpful. Much easier than scrolling back and forth on a monitor or PC especially because your hands have polymer clay on them.There is no need to follow the instructions perfectly but close enough gets you in the ballpark. For instance in the kaleidoscope instructions in mentions using four 1.5" canes. I did an oops, and didn't pay attention to that, so i started with four canes of my own sizing. It worked and though mine didn't come out quite like the picture, it came out with a beautiful pattern.I also have the book "The Complete Book of Polymer Clay" by Lisa Pavelka. That book provides a lot of tips and details on clays themselves. I read that book thoroughly and still refer back to it, but it was Yonat's book that got me actually moving with the clay.*as a note - thanks to other reviewers that mentioned there are a few typos in this book. It was good to know I wasn't alone on noticing them.

I never write reviews but had to this time. I own more polymer clay books than I care to admit. After 15+ years of clay, I decided to learn how to make canes. I looked through my books and bought others. I found that I had to refer to different books for different aspects. I was about to make a master list for the various techniques and which book to look at for each when I discovered this book. Wish I had found it sooner. Yonat goes through each technique, from simple to complex. Many techniques build on earlier ones and Yonat includes the page numbers to refer back. Each technique goes through the steps with a photo to illustrate with accompanying text. Some may only need 6 photos and other techniques may need 23. It's impossible to go wrong! You will be caning in no time and will be making beautiful complex canes before you know it!!!

Nice photos and good descriptions. Different types of projects to show versatility of the canes, from jewelry to wall hangings to pens, etc,

I own quite a few polymer books and when this one arrived,I checked the price, saw how small it was and almost dropped it in the return box. However,after looking it over,I was really impressed with the details. The author also explains several techniques which I hadn't seen in other books and I have read many of them. I had quite a few, "oh, now I get it" moments while going through the techniques. I had one book which showed a wonderful sliced cane bracelet, but there was no explanation on the most efficient method of constructing the canes. This book contains a method that is fast, beautiful and very unique. That tip alone is worth the price of the book. She does cover a lot of flower designs which do not interest me, but towards the end of the book she shows how those amazingly complex canes are constructed. Well done and well worth the price.

It had some good information but it was too brief. A lot of pictures. If you learn more from pictures than words then this is the book for you. It bothered me that the author says a pasta machine is not needed and then proceeds to use it extensively.

I have to be honest, when this book arrived I was taken aback at just how little (6" x 8 1/4") it was! However, I sat down and found that the 126 pages are full of great and easy to follow cane making techniques with tons of pictures for each cane. There were also some really good project ideas to use with the new canes.This book is not for the already expert cane maker but ideal for everyone else! I absolutely love this book and highly recommend it. 5 stars from me!!

I bought over a dozen Polymer Clay books and finally found a perfect Beginner to more advanced guide! Step by step guide with plenty of pictures help you to learn the craft. I wish I found this ten books ago!

As a polymer clay artist and teacher I purchase many books for my students and myself. I was delighted to find in this book a wonderful creative and instructive source for my beginner students as well as for the advanced ones and myself!The book gradually builds knowledge in polymer clay through clear photo demonstrations, simple instructions and very helpful tips. It includes the most basic and classic techniques, as well as advanced and original ideas and projects.After working with polymer clay for over a decade now I find this book refreshing, inspiring and useful!A surprising merit of this book is its size. Although it contains a broad range of instruction and ideas it is very compact, making it practical and easy to carry with you and place on your work table! Please note that accordingly, the print is rather small, so if this poses a problem, you might consider the larger print version, or prepare your spectacles.

All the instructions are great with both photos and a description. She takes you through a great number of canes. I've been caning around 2 or 3 months and knew I'd say around 3/4 of the techniques. Still it was good to learn those. They will come in handy. If I was a complete novice then its get 5 stars I think

nicely presented, but nothing new, I was hoping to see some slightly more advanced projects than this book offered.However, if I was starting out I would find this book an enormous asset.
