Excellent shear set so far
Very simple, but stout design. The solid pieces of steel create a good heft and balance. The handles are fairly comfortable and would be easy to add some padded wrap to if you like. They came sharpened enough to do their job well. I've used them on a Tillandsia, a Anthurium, a Stevia plant, African violets, and a Money Tree. The shears have made good clean cuts on all these plants.Another reviewer stated they had to keep them oiled or they would rust. Well yes that's what you must do to even the highest quality steel unless it is true stainless steel. The steel quality of these shears is more than sufficient for many years of service.Only two notes on potential problems/dislikes. First is the blade size of the smaller shears seems a bit large for it's intended reaching in purpose, but it has worked thus far for me. Just something to note. Second is the pivot pins are hammered in rather than being some form of bolt or screw. There is a potential for problems here. As they wear the only way to tighten is to hammer some more which takes a fine touch to not over hammer. And if they should need replaced then they would need to be cut off or ground down for removal. For the super cheap price there should be no serious complaints here! If you want higher quality shears, go pay them. These are inexpensive, serviceable, and simple.

Sturdy, sharp, great value.
These tools were higher quality than I had originally expected. Unlike some other reviewers, all cutting surfaces line up perfectly, are sharp and cut effortlessly. Regarding the oxidation and rust comments, yes they are made of High Carbon Steel, and will rust in humid environments if not properly cared for, just like any Carbon Steel based tool. An occasional light coat of oil will keep them in pristine shape and condition. Do not use them to cut training wire, take care of them and they will last you many, many years. Great value for the money!

I am a begiiner but for the price, It works well for me
I know that certain Bonsai tools are essential for grooming your Bonsai. that being said, I am a beginner and some tools I am apt to buy as a beginner. The spherical cutters work well and are essential for cutting close to the small branch. the other flush cutter gets you as close. Also you cannot do these tasks with a typical set of gardening cutting tools. I tried--no way. As I get further into Bonsai, I will probably buy a better set as I do with my other tools once I know I will actually spend the time and effort but for the beginner I think they work well. Those Bonsai enthusiasts who disagree with me, have mercy, I am a beginner and as any beginner, you start affordable and then as you become more experience, you buy the best you can for the money such as my woodworking tools.

Fair for the price
The scissors are sharp and hefty, but poorly aligned so that they catch instead of cutting smoothly. The price is low enough that you can’t expect perfection, so it seems fair. I’ll get a better pair eventually, but these will work for a while.

A very good bargain for the price.
These items are sharp and fit the hand comfortably. They are not stiff, so operating them for a lengthily period will not cramp your hand or fingers. They are fair in quality and I think they are a good buy for the price. I used mine for over an hour at one setting after their arrival and my hands didn't tire. The cuts were clean and defined with no trace of tearing or crushing at the cut. I was able to reach in with the longer of the two to the inside of the tree and remove some leaves from inside. I am well satisfied with the performance of the product.

The steel is too soft for the work
One cut and the concave cutter is already deformed. In the photo, there's a gap at the pointing end, making it useless now
