Excellent Dash Cam!
Granted this dashcam isn’t the cheapest but it is also not the most expensive, for the money (I paid £80 in a sale) it is alot of bang for your buck. The video quality is surprisingly good, very much an upgrade from my previous dashcam which was a generic Chinese brand with a happy sounding name. Video in the day time is sharp, clear and can pick up reg plates with ease. In the evening/night it can struggle with reg plates if there is a massive speed difference but that is understandable. I’m yet to order the hard wiring kit and the polarising filter however installation was a breeze and the size/shape of the camera allow you to slot it behind your rear view mirror and it’s basically invisible while driving. Functionality wise it’s easy to use, press menu to take a photo, press the big warning triangle to record a clip. Simple as that! Would recommend grabbing the polariser as glare can be an issue around sunrise/sunset but I do a lot of driving during unsociable hours so that’s up to you ultimately.Overall for the price it’s a solid choice and you won’t go wrong. Viofo are a recognised brand and the police/insurance companies both recognise it’s a good camera. So much so my insurance premium came down by a tenner once installed. Would absolutely recommend this dashcam!

Great video footage
Had dash cams for many years and have been through many in that time too. I'd been using the autovox d6 pro for some time and never had an issue. But i wanted to get a 2k camera and try it out. Gave this one a try after much research into the different viofo models. Viofo also brought an update out so it can record 1440p @60fps which is great and the setting i've been using. Had it a few days now and can say the footage is really good (on my computer that is only 1080p) for such a good price and the best i've seen so far.Size isn't to bad to be honest and it sticks to the windscreen. I've never liked the suction cup mounts. Comes with a gps mount that works well. No wifi unlike my last one, but i tend to take the card out and plug it straight into my phone is i need any footage anyway. It uses a mini usb cable, so i had rewire the cable from micro to mini in my car. You can by the adaptors but i don't like them much. adds a bit of bulk to where i need the wiring. I have mine plugged into a magic pro so the dash cam stays on full recording after the car switched off or i use the override switch.I have a rear dash cam but always use single channel like this one and just purchase a seperate for the rear. Good thing about that is they work independently so no sharing processor etc. Also if the front break down i can just swap the rear to the front and keep going.CPL filter! The picture is definitely clearer and crisp with one on during the day and reduces the dash glare you get on the windscreen. Definitely a must.Night time the picture was terrible with the CPL filter on. I've got a heated windscreen so i'm assuming the fine heater wires, combined with night time and whatever the CPL filter does caused the images to be quite fuzzy. Taking the filter off at night restored good video footage.

Awkward to view in vehicle
Purchased this as it had good reviews- this is indeed very good:Easy to set upBetter adhesion to the screen than those with suction cupGreat quality video but did need to purchase the expensive polarising filterScreen switches off after a few minutes so as not distract anyone. The only negative was the angle of the screen when fitted to the windscreen in order to change settings. Better to do this before deciding where to fit on the windscreen and route your wiring- my error so now had to contort somewhat to see properly. From a design perspective it may have been advisable to have the screen drop down for viewing the menu and then clip back up afterwards.

Good clear image
Fairly easy to install - most problem was down to the tight fitting trim in the car, but managed to hide the wire across the top of the windscreen in a Skoda Superb and down the side, under the passenger footwell and then into the USB socket in front of the gear lever. Have since moved the camera into a newer model Superb and the usb lead is about 30cm too short now as the USB-A socket is now in the armrest between the seats & I didn't want to use the USB-C as that is handy for the phone.Tried it out with blue tack to fasten to the windscreen and checking position/aim (before committing to the sticky pad!) which actually worked well for a good year before I remembered (when the blue tack gave up...) and then replaced with sticky pad.Image is very good in daylight and acceptable at night. This was one of the few HD cameras that I tried where you can actually read the number plates from the image.Night time is good (better than others) but number plates can be hard to read with the glare from headlights - just about possible with cars that you are following.GPS feature is good and microphone is fairly good to capture in car sound (& comments....)Set up was fairly straightforward, but lots of options that need to be addressed, thankfully these are remembered consistently between journeys.Slightly annoying is the "option" of the polarising filter, if it needs it (which I think it does!) then supply it with the package.Otherwise very good camera that has performed well for about 4 years now.
