A dream for any serious fighter!
There are purists who would disagree with me, but I swear up and down with the awesomeness of this product. This Octagonal Restrictor Gate is a MUST for my style of fighting gameplay. Most SANWA joysticks come with a Square Restrictor Gate in place, as that is the standard for Japanese arcade machines. Now, while I can play with the Square, I much prefer the Octagon. I find it much more suited for my style of play in fighting games, such as STREET FIGHTER, KING OF FIGHTERS, and MARVEL VS. CAPCOM.As a “Shoto” player (one who uses Ken, Ryu, and Akuma) this gate allows me to execute my special moves with precision and ease. With this, you’ll be pulling off “Sho Ryu Ken’s” and “Hadou Kens” like Daigo Umehara! It’s also well suited for fighters who are used to a lot of 360 degree movements, like Zangief. This Restrictor Gate is designed by SANWA, for SANWA joysticks. If you are customizing your own arcade-style stick, or you have your own customs arcade system, this simple device makes fighting games a breeze! For me, I can’t imagine not playing fighting games without the Octagonal Restrictor Gate in place. This makes a huge difference in my gameplay, and I highly recommend it for any serious fighting game fan.

Fits my 8bitdo arcade stick
Feels good, the design is simple and it was easy to install. Time will tell if it holds up, but the build quality felt solid, so I think this is a good buy if you want an 8 way directional stick.

Fantastic for fighting games
I ordered this to install in my first generation 8BitDo NES30 Arcade Stick. It comes with a square gate which is absolute dog water for fighting games. This octagonal gate popped right in, and has made a HUGE difference. Love it.

Not for all fight sticks, especially cheaper ones
If you are buying for a hori fight stick mini, DON'T!! The internals do not accept the gate, the mini has a cheaper square gat setup. If you want this to fit you have to either replace the whole stick or Dremel the original gate to fit the center ring. Then Dremel the ring to fit the switches to put it back together. After all that, the ring works (sorta, let's you roll the stick now) but takes alot to get there. If you don't measure twice before cutting you will ruin both and won't have anything. The star rating is because of the product itself, not for the fitting all fightsticks because it doesn't fit all. A higher quality Sanwa stick this will fit and won't have to cut anything. I am sure the product does what it's supposed to, if it is matched with the proper stick. Cheap fightsticks this won't work with. I suggest opening your fight stick and see what kind of gate and stick you have before ordering, which I did not do, hence the buying a part I had to make fit.

Perfect fit for my nanco daija
I just bought it for my nanco daija since it came with a square restrictor. It feels a lot better now, I was having trouble with the input of the joystick wile playing sf6. After the change the difference between this octagonal and the square shape it’s like heaven and earth.

Convert Joystick Gate
I wanted a different gate for my arcade stick. I like to play platforming games with my stick and a square gate made it a little odd to move characters in 3D spaces. The swap was as easy as unscrewing the back of the controller, pulling out the old gate and replacing it with the new gate. Works great!
