I'm a writer and a student and I use my laptop in various locations such as coffee shops, restaurants, and the couch in friends' homes. Sometimes I need to do research or reference notes, and having a second monitor makes it much easier to do than switching windows on one screen. The Duex Pro Portable Monitor first caught my attention because in most places I work away from home I barely have room for my laptop, let alone a second monitor, and this attached monitor makes that a moot point.At first I was hesitant because of the price, but since I've had it (over 3 months now), it's been worth the money. Mounting and preparation for use are very easy. It came with the cable and magnets for mounting to three laptops. Yes, there were glitches with the video in the beginning, but I was provided a quick and easy fix and it has worked fine since. The picture quality is great.It mounts to the back the laptop monitor via magnets. I have a 15" laptop and mounted my Duex Pro monitor centered top to bottom. According to the product description (Tips), "Duex pro must be seated against the table top. The magnets are only meant to hold Duex pro upright, they cannot hold Duex pro on by themselves. This was the design intention." The magnets do hold the monitor onto the back of my laptop just fine while extended without resting on anything, but after a while it may slide a little bit. I've used it for hours at a time extended and not resting on anything and I have no complaints. The magnets make it easy to remove for transport (if it won't fit in your laptop sleeve, for example) or if you want to use it in portrait mode (self-supporting) or with the kickstand (landscape).Everywhere I use it people ask me about it, and they're impressed with how nice it looks and works. I'm very happy with my purchase and recommend it to everyone.

I have had this additional screen for my laptop for a couple of months now. Works great! Comes with two cords to connect to a USB port and also to connect to a type C port (like the new Samsung Galaxy S10). Comes with 12 circle-shaped magnets that have adhesive on one side to stick to the back of your laptop monitor. You need to use 4 of them, so there are 8 extra. The directions say that these magnets can be removed from your laptop by heating them to loosen the adhesive. I have two laptops, one for travel and one that stays at home, so I have used 8 of the magnets so far, 4 on each laptop. Horizontal Placement: When you follow the directions to place the magnets on the back of your laptop monitor, it says to place them so that this extra monitor will be offset about an inch to the right of your screen--but I would recommend to err on the side of a little too much rather than not enough. Since once the screen is opened it has a hinge that allows the monitor to be angled backwards and forwards. On one of my laptops I placed it sufficiently to where the it is very easy to angle the screen forwards (I haven't really tried backwards), but on the other laptop I underestimated slightly and I have to offset it just a bit off of the magnets to get it to angle forward the way that I need it to. I recommend that you hold it on the back of your laptop with one hand while you slide out the screen and angle it backward and forward to confirm the motion and the correct placement before deciding exactly where you would like to place the magnets. Other than that, the directions for putting the magnets on are pretty foolproof and went very well. Vertical Placement: One other consideration is to make sure that the bottom of the screen will be supported by the surface your laptop is on by opening the laptop and setting the screen behind it, making sure it touches the surface the laptop is on before making your decision about where to place the magnets. It's a great screen. I'm glad that I bought it because it helps me to be more productive since I can see two screens at once.

I have had mine for 2.5 years, and it works well most of the time. Yes, the cord has been finicky, but now I'm at the point where I need a replacement cord, and I can't find one. I would give it 5 stars, but it looks like I have to buy a new screen now because my cord has become too damaged from all my travels.

I purchased this product because I am taking several online courses. I found it tedious to constantly minimize and maximize windows as I switched between my internet browser and the software program I was learning about.The product doubled my laptop workspace. Now, I have my course open on the Duex Monitor and the software program I'm working on open on my laptop screen. As a result, I enjoy my online courses more and have learned quicker on them.Positives:-easy set-up-quality packaging-adequate instructions-good image quality-good brightnessNegatives:-none, reallySummary:I recommend this product highly. Set-up was quite easy; it took me about 30 minutes. I like the image quality quite a bit. I do wish that the screen was offered in a matte finish, as it only comes in glossy.

I would rate this higher but for one issue - the magnets and magnet plates. The adhesive used to attach the magnets to the laptop as well as the adhesive used to attach the magnet plates to the Trio Max is not sufficient. Both the magnets and magnet plates continue to come off both the laptop and the back of the Trio Max. It's a great concept and if this issue could be resolved, it would be a great product. I bought 2 of these and have the same problem with both.Update - 3/9/22 - Their support sent additional adhesive which unfortunately did not resolve the issue. I wound up buying 2 tablet stands which initially were fine...until today where one of the screens started sagging in its slide holder...it turns out there are little magnets in there that are meant to hold the display to the slide when it's reversed...THESE magnets are coming off now as well. I would have been far better off buying standalone monitors. For $600 these should have been practically bulletproof. I'm now changing my rating to 1 star.
