This product did exactly what it was described to do. And it had the gold logo under the tape.
This is a new shell for when the old plastic shell on your factory key cracks or breaks, making it no longer usable (or difficult to use). You must free the "blade" (metal part) out of the molded plastic factory key housing that surrounds the end of it, slide the blade into a new plastic trim piece, move the electronics from the old key to the new key housing, put the two sides together, put the screw in, and you are done. Oh, if you love the gold Lexus logo, take the black tape off the back of it so you can see the logo. The black tape is a good match to the color of the plastic so apparently a lot of people don't even know it's there. For all of the above, this product worked perfectly and I am very pleased with the result. Seems to be the same quality of plastic, the blade fit into the plastic trim piece very tightly/firmly, and when the key was reassembled it looked much better than my original key before it broke and functioned in exactly the same way.If you are reusing a key "blade" from a duplicate key (i.e., not a OEM Lexus factory key that came with the car), the blade might not be the exact same size and shape of the factory blade so perhaps it won't be a perfect fit (I noted that some reviews indicated it wasn't a tight fit). Nobody can make a product that will fit every blade design by every supplier perfectly. But I had a Lexus factory key and it was exactly perfect. Quite hard to get in place all the way but it seated perfectly and because it was difficult to get in all of the way it is held very firmly.I'd suggest if you have a duplicate blade that you are attempting to reuse and it doesn't fit quite right into the trim piece, consider filling any gaps with epoxy and letting it cure completely before using so that it is solid and firm. Also, to get the old plastic case off of the original blade, I used tin snips at an angle to shear off the plastic from the blade. Worked perfectly and quickly for both sides, one pass each. Just don't cut into the metal blade. You are just scraping the plastic off basically with the leverage of the tin snips. One blade of the snips is scraping the plastic off, the other is at the base (housing end) of the key blade.Last, I don't see any possibility for this product to make a key not work, damage a door lock, etc. It's just the plastic housing and in my case it was the exact same size and shape as the original housing, covered the same area as the original one on the factory blade, etc. It was the correct size to house the remote electronics, it left about 2-3mm of blade showing when inserted into the door lock or ignition, etc.

Great low cost alternative...
Recently the case on our key fob broke. We have a 2004 Lexus GX-470. I super glued it, that was pain, and did not last very long. So I figured I've give this a try. Sure a lot cheaper than going to a dealer and getting everything new, probably all they have.Switching over the guts was pretty simple. There is one small part you need to slide the actual key stem into, that took quite a bit of muscle to get it to slide all the way on. It's a very, very tight fit. But, I would rather have that be tight, than the key be too loose and this case end up breaking as well.I agree with some other reviews, the plastic on this case does not seem to be as thick as the original, but I think it's thick enough to stand up. Plus you get two units, so if one does eventually fail, you have a backup. I like it and I think it will last. Probably longer than we will have the car.Very happy, outstanding price, would recommend.

Gets job done but not without hassle
I wouldn’t try to use this replacement without pliers, simply won’t work for getting key ‘sleeve’ on fully. Problem with that is that now the sleeve is susceptible to breaking (put one on without breaking and one with breaking). The one that had sleeve broken now has a gap between front and back plate due to extra space taken up by broken sleeve. Bottom line, buy only if necessary and don’t expect it to be a quick fix, as you may run into problems. All in all however, fine product that gets job done

DECENT REPLACEMENT FOR THE PRICE
Constructed and works exactly like the original, but like the original, is sensitive to pressure. This has started cracking in the same place as the original did, so just be gentle when you turn in the ignition. Can't beat the price for the look and feel though.

Cracked within 3 days. Buyer beware.
Not very durable and cheap. Really didn’t fit either. Disappointed and kinda surprised as the reviews seemed legit. The screw was too small too. Wish I could get a replacement or money back. Buyer beware.

Buy with confidence
I was a little concerned after reading some of the complaints about this product, but I purchased it anyway and I am glad I did. To address some of the more common issues that have been raised:- There are two complete shells included, enough to completely repair two keys.- My vehicle is a 2004 Lexus RX330 and the new shells fit perfectly. I can't speak to other years and models, but from what I can tell these are the real deal and work as advertised.- Yes, the buttons are recessed slightly into the surface of the shell, so the feel will be slightly different that what you're accustomed to. But, this is because these shells are thicker than the originals - you're looking at these because your original keys broke, right? Hopefully the thicker plastic is an attempt to solve this problem.- Yes, it's a snug fit getting everything in there, some fiddling (and patience) is required. This is by design, a tight fit keeps things in place, resulting in less flexing and (hopefully) less breakage.

Gets job done but won’t last long
Needed a replacement for 2007 Lexus. Didn’t want to pay$100 at the dealer and found this for my primary and spare. I was able to install but there was a same gap in the seam. Could not get it to totally snap but it was functional. Both started to crack 6 months in and one totally disintegrated by December. Looking to buy a Stauber with four screws that seems like it might be better quality. This would work in a jam but don’t expect it to last.
