What a terrific way to convert and share memories with today's technology
What a terrific way to convert and share memories with today's technology. I am able to eliminate all those bulky VHS tapes (and I have A LOT) and burn those memories onto just a few thin DVDs. I had never looked into this ability before and was surprised by how many choices there are. There are more expensive versions, but I opted for this product. It arrived within 2 days as promised and contained EVERYTHING I needed (except the VCR, of course). Easy plug & play installation. I was set up within minutes.Everything was perfect except I could not record any audio. After spending an evening trying everything, including a fresh install, I sent an email to the company. Within 1 hour, the owner contacted me back to assist with tech support. Crazy right? The owner! Keith was very patient and helpful and was able to assist me with my issue. Talk about customer service! So yeah, I selected the right product at the right price. And by the way, you can also convert ANY old VHS movie you bought years ago (although it probably is considered piracy and so, you didn’t hear it from me.) The software basically turns into a TV and so, whatever you play on the VCR, the software records and you own it.So, if the technology involved in converting your VHS tapes intimates you, this is the product to purchase. You have full support only moments away!

If it works its great, but if it doesn't you're buried in incomprehensible error messages
This was supposed to be easy to use "plug and play". And I see many reviews telling how easy it is to use... However after carefully following instructions to load the software and attach my device, the software failed to work and I received a cryptic error message which gave me no clue as to what to do. So I went through the steps very carefully again and received a different cryptic and incomprehensible error message. Unfortunately the error messages gave no hint as to what to do as far as resolving the problem - No "plug in the disk dummy" or " Click start" or "plug in Videorecorder", or "disk full"... or anything you could actually take action to resolve. But the instructions promised I could send an email and the "technical support" department would get back to me in "24 to 48 hours". It took me ten minutes to process the return and send it back for a refund.

Does the job!
For many a year, I had a bunch of old videotapes with family filmings on them. They have been hanging around for a good decade - I started down the digital transformation path with a combination VCR/DVD recorder machine that had an internal hard drive in it. You would record the VCR tape to the hard drive, use the remote control to break apart the video into meaningful scenes, type out the menu (which was a horrendously tedious process!) and then burn the DVD. The hard drive gave out before I could finish and, long story short, I wound up looking for another method to finish the job. This product was the second tool I purchased for this - the first was junk and did not even work (don't go for the less expensive versions of this type of product. You will eventually wind up buying this one!) I had 20 videotapes left to go through, and got them in over the span of a week. You have to use the included software here - I tried using OBS, an open source video capture software package, but it did not recognize the device. So I was stuck with the one they gave. The software is not horrible; it did crash a couple of times, it had a few mis-starts where it was supposedly recording but did not capture anything, and it was difficult to keep the preview framed in the viewing box (they have some miscalculations in their viewing box algorithm - I finally figured out that if I moved the whole application window to the top left corner of my screen, I could see what was going on.)The software outputs an MPEG stream. If you plan to put this on to a DVD and have menus for scenes, etc. you will need to get some more software. There are plenty of open source packages out there to do this - Google is your friend here. Note that I did this on a Windows 10 box with plenty of hard drive space (a 2-hour videotape will take up about 4 GB of space on the hard drive), a fairly decent video card, a modern-ish cpu, and plenty of RAM (the software takes up some memory to do the digitalization of the video.)

Works but!
Set it up to transfer VCR over to DVD as all my VCR tapes are at the end of their life's. Set up is really easy, no issues but I could not get a good burn to DVD on my computer. Tried everything I could think of with no success. Finally reached out to tech support. Very quick replies and over the course of a couple of days we were able to get the unit to burn to my DVD. Needed a "slower" burn rate which makes no sense to me but it worked. Now the issue is the quality of the burn. There is rather noticeable decrease in clarity. I give high marks to their tech support, top notch. Just be aware that you might not - your mileage may vary compared to mine - get the clarity that you would expect with this unit.

Easy to Use Low Cost
Ordered this to transfer old family VHS tapes to digital. It costs about the price of paying to have 1 cassette transferred. I found the program easy to set up by using the enclosed instructions. It connected easily to my VHS player and mini VHS camera via the cables that came with the camera. I liked the preview window to watch what I was transferring. I have two friends who plan to purchase to convert their old cassettes to digital. I need to download a MP2 player on my Windows 10 computer media player to play the captured files. Once that was completed. No problems at all.
