Get flat abs in 4 1/2 minutes a day!
I wondered how long it took to do 50 crunches on this machine so I just timed it--1 min 12 sec for 50 repetitions!. OK, so this is my new routine--I walk into the spare bedroom where I keep it and do a quick 50 at a time. My goal in the next week is 200 repetitions (crunches) a day. It will be easy to achieve.I've now been working out for 9 days and am already noticing a big improvement. My lower stomach has a big shelf of belly due to 75 extra pounds on a small frame plus the loss of tone after a hysterectomy. Since using the Ab Coaster Max, my lower tummy is starting to shrink and my upper abs are tighter.I'm not handy and I had a neighbor put one together and that did not work and I had to send it back. Big mess to pack up! I should have called the handyman I used the second time and maybe it wouldn't have needed to go back. Those caution instructions are confusing and I notice when I got the replacement, the instructions were different.I owned an ab coaster before and also used it in the gym. I knew it worked because I'd use it regularly in the gym. But sad to say, when I owned one during my time in Tampa, it sat in the garage and I didn't use it because it was too hot in the garage. Don't be like me and buy it and not use it! Now I'm older and wiser and so grateful that I can see such dramatic results with so little effort. I mean really, 4 1/2 minutes a day for a flat stomach?I'm about to find out how much stomach you can lose from exercise versus diet. I am dieting but my goal weight is months away. But based on the progress I see to date, I think I'll see serious shrinkage from the Ab Coaster workouts. Seriously, what was I thinking to own it before, not use it, and then give it away? I'm talking so much about my progress to my diet partner that she is looking at buying one as is my sister. One thing the company should tell you is that there is a YouTube video on unpacking and assembly of the AbCoaster. They should put this on the instruction materials as it helps. I don't know about the strap they say to not cut. We had problems with the first one and the handyman got the second one going correctly despite the strap issue. They need to make those instructions clearer.Despite a few hurdles, I am so excited about using my Ab Coaster Max now. Maybe being in my 70s makes me appreciate how hard it is to get back in shape. If I move again, this machine is going with me!

SENIORS: START SLOWLY! Warning: This is a LONG review!
Okay - love this equipment - and I'll love it even more when I can move again! :-) It arrived yesterday, box intact, contents complete, days before expected. It took me less time to put it together than it did to cut down all the cardboard and packing materials to go into the trash and recycling bins. I bought this because my back was getting weaker and weaker and I had begun using my arms to lift my fat butt (and belly) out of chairs - a huge warning sign, especially for seniors. When you can't get up out of a chair without help from your arms, you are on a slippery slope. None of the other exercises I had tried were strengthening my core, which will definitely affect your back. I got on and did 10 quick reps, being sure to follow the directions for the correct way to use this contraption. No Problem! So I did 20 an hour or so later. And right before bed, I did 20 more! This morning I could hardly get out of bed - and that is the good news! My abdominals, obliques and even my quads were screaming, but my back feels better. I'm a female, upper 70's and it did bother my knees a little bit, but they seem fine this morning. Thank goodness for ibuprofen! I will do only 20 reps today and start building sensibly day by day instead of trying to get a flat abdomen in one week; after all, it took me years to get in this condition! My goal is not to have a "six-pack" but to be mobile and self-sufficient into old age (whenever that begins). As Helen Hayes (actress for those too young to know) once said, "If you rest, you rust." It's true! P.S. Follow the directions! Hand-tighten screws only until completely assembled, then go back and tighten them. Equipment seems sturdy enough - I could do better welding myself, but it seems adequate. The resistance feels a little choppy to me too, but when you build up speed, it becomes less noticeable. And if there were no "drag" at all, then you wouldn't be working your muscles, you'd be gliding!

Great purchase already doing an amazing job
I've wanted one of these for a while now. I used a similar version at a gym and knew this was something we should add to our home gym.First off it was extremely easy to put together. I did it by myself in about 30-45 minutes. The only thing that I had to work at figuring out was losing the knee pad to twist the seat while working out. Once I figured that out everything was perfect.I love that is counts the reps for me and I can easily see if I did a complete crunch or just thought I did...the counter helps you see if you met the right height on your "crunch" which I appreciate. It is hard. Okay I said it. Its not an easy workout. But I do 25 reps...rest go back and do 25 more. Sometimes I will do 20-25 at a time up to 150 per day and that seems to be my sweet spot. But when that gets easier...I can do more!I am short and didn't have issues others mentioned due to height...I find it easy to work out on based on my 5'3" height.

Arrived with all parts and instructional CD's.
Pros: Exactly as described. Well built. I've been using it for three days and it definitely is targeting the abs. Our gym closed a while back and I've been looking for something to use in my apartment. I spend a lot of time seated working on the computer so it's a nice quick break to work pelvic/back muscles as well as the abs.Cons: I've included one photo. Not sure if the weld is like that on purpose. That is where the curved rails attach to the armrest console so I'd guess it comes under a good bit of stress. Time will tell. The metal is all solid heavy gauge steel so it will probably hold for years. The digital counter works, but seems to miss counts sometimes. Not a big deal for me.Summary: Considering everything, quality is very good for the price and I'd recommend it to a friend.
