Does not fit Southbend 9" lathe.

Okay for the price. Rough around the edges.
This is clearly a cheap Chinese piece. It does the job, but the construction is very rough--literally. There are bits of flash metal and plastic from the mold on all of the components. The wheel slides fit poorly, making accurate setting difficult. Buy something better made, if you can afford it.

Heavy duty in every way.
I ordered this to use on my powermatic lathe. It came in 2 days and installed flawlessly. Heavy and robust and totally stopped whipping. I highly recommend if you need a heavy duty steady rest that won't bend or flex.

steady Steady Rest
I made a way to firmly attach to my Shopsmith and it made a huge difference in turning long spindles. The steady rest is solid and has the strength to keep the turning solidly still.

Fit nicely, and worked very well.

Built well, just didn't work.
It was well built but when my work piece vibrated, it moves the wheels back. You then have to retighten everything. It defeats the whole purpose. I took it off so I could use a larger workpiece. Maybe I'll try a pool stick or something not so heavy. The bat was too much for it.
