Radius Garden 23811 Root Slayer Metal Detecting Spade

I can't say how much I love this shovel let me tell you I ONLY use it to shovel snow not for its intended gardening purposes. So it's hard to explain but the size and shape of the blade makes it FANTASTIC for digging out your car when the plow boxes it in, it cuts like a knife to get the icy hard snow it is awesome. Also getting snow out from the sides of your tires is just fantastic, and one last thing it's almost impossible to throw out your back because the blade doesn't hold much snow but that's not how you should use it (lifting) I use it for chopping and pulling it's the best for getting a car out and it fits in the trunk. I also used it once on a beach to get a guy out it worked well same method on sand as in snow!

This tool is amazing for removing dandelions from the lawn and getting most of their roots , I will not use those horrible weed chemicals such as Roundup, which should be banned. ( A good natural weed killer is using a mix of super strong vinegar diluted to about 20% with a few drops of dawn dish soap) It also is great for starting a hole in clay soil. I live in Colorado and the soil is very tough. This is an amazing tool also to remove invasive mint and just to break up soil for planting. 5 stars!

I was skeptical when I bought this because I didn't think it would dig through roots as easy as advertised. However, I was able to dig out six hedges in about 10 minutes. I trimmed the branches of the first two before digging out the roots so I could get better leverage. But this thing practically went through the roots like butter, so I finished the last four without trimming the branches off first. The Root Slayer earned its name with me.

Great purchase. Item exceeded my expectations. I've had knee replacements so I'm not as stable and strong using a shovel. Therefore, if the ground is hard or if there are roots involved; I struggle. This tool, cuts into the ground and shift it just right and it will cut through those plant roots too. Great for getting those deep weeds or those saplings out of the ground. Thank you!!

this shovel works like a charm, easy to handle and you can use it to dig flowers that are close to things you don't want to disturb or damage. Easy to handle and sharp enough to get to the roots, easy to use .

I like Radius Garden tools, they are as solid as they look. My only issue with this model is the handle is shorter than I would like. I was torn on that prior to order, and after some use, a longer handle would be much better. I am ~ 5'9"

Buy it right now. I have a yard already full of mature trees and plants. Digging to plant anything was such a challenge and very discouraging. Needless to say lots of plants got half buried and a prayer for survival.This thing worked like a charm. Breezed through tough tiny knotted roots and I got 4 3 gallon plants dug to full depth in 30 min.Do not hesitate to get this.Note that this is only about 4 foot in length but I didn't even notice and it fit perfectly in my hands and for maneuvering around.

This is a solid, well-built tool. I analyzed almost 2 dozen different edging/trenching type of shovels like this. I’m so glad I decided on this one. Here’s one reason why, that I didn’t even know until I read the literature included: “The special V-shaped cutting tip makes digging easier and ensures you don’t slip if you hit a root.” I never even thought of that! I was torn between a standard pointed cutting tip and one like this V shaped and I’m so glad I went with this.If I could give 6 stars for the packaging, I would. The box is sturdy. The shovel head is well, well protected. It comes completely assembled. Thank you for packing this so well to make it to me with absolutely no issues.
