Big Banjo Joy!
Opening the big box to behold this banjo is like being introduced to someone for the first time yet feeling as if you've known the person your whole life. I'm newly meeting an old, old soulmate!Just initially bridging and tuning this AKLOT 5-string, open back banjo is an overwhelming experience. I'm shocked at the beauty and substantial heft of the instrument as well as the ugly import of its cultural weight. This AKLOT feels sturdy, solid and well-crafted. At 38" from top to bottom, the banjo is slightly longer than many other models -- which works for me, since I have long arms. The tiger stripe maple wood head, honey-colored maple body and distressed REMO drum head give the instrument a bright, new, clean yet old-timey vintage look. While the thin carrying case, bizarrely colored neck strap and other accessories aren't much to speak of, that doesn't diminish the excellent price -- or the elegant sound quality of this beauty.Unlike the tinny, jangling twang of most inexpensive banjos, this model has a modest, mellow and almost muted sound. Perfect for late-night playing at home. Although I've only had it for a few weeks, the banjo seems to hold its tuning well -- and its solid construction assures me I'll have many years of strumming, stroking, plucking and playing around. To say that I'm happy with this baby is a big understatement. I'm beyond thrilled with my new banjo!

Looks, feels and sounds great for the value!
There were couple of minor issues, like a missing screw on the back of one of the tuners and the 5th string tuner button broke in half during tuning after a couple of months (I glued the plastic pieces back together). I had to lookup a generic banjo action adjustment video to figure out how to tweak my action as there are no instructions. It works the same as other banjos, no big deal. I fixed all issues and got the banjo setup properly. It plays well and sounds great! The strap with hooks is much nicer than I was expecting. The included gig bag, extra strings, tuner and finger picks are all a nice touch. Though the gig bag and finger picks are not of the best quality, even getting them at all with an instrument priced this low is crazy! This is a GREAT value for the money! The banjo looks, feels and sounds nice...what more can you ask for at under $200?I have learned over time that I prefer taller frets than the low ones that come on this model, but that is a matter of preference. The fret work and overall craftsmanship is much better than expected for the price. I am SUPER happy to have it. I would definitely recommend this banjo to anyone looking to learn.

New Banjo Fan!!
I start by saying how grateful i am with the seller, the packaging was great! Everything came up extremely nice and all accesories Complete! Now, about the Banjo itself...I cant Believe the quality feel of it, i wasnt expecting such weight, and beautiful finish on the mapple.. to be honest i was expecting something close to what it was my first electric Guitar, that thing was rough! But enough to get started... But not this time, with my Banjo, the sound is so Mellow, and quite loud! I love it!! ... if i could point out a nit, it would be the action is a Bit High, for my likeing but, i guess thats an easy fix

Buy different picks
Good deal for beginners. Picks included are absolutely incorrect. Shoulder strap is an odd choice graphically. Look at some YouTube videos for the type of picks you need and you'll see. Just buy some separate ones. Mine came without the measurement tool for the bridge that was said to be included so i measured myself. It is basically 26" give or take half an inch. Overall, a good go for just starting out.
