does it have a slot for a memory card?

It does have a USB port though. Perhaps scan's can be directed to that port.

Does the gx7021 fit legal sized paper. many comments say the gx7020 cannot accommodate it. was this fixed with the gx7021?

MY GX 7020 Will print on Legal Size Paper; however, you have to feed it through the back feeder very few sheets at a time.
