Helped relieve my severe wrist pain
I bought this wrist rest/mousepad after experiencing severe pain in my wrist which likely resulted from too many extended gaming sessions. After trying several iterations of homemade solutions such as rolled up towels or large bubble wrap inside a sock (worked somewhat but was too mooshy) I decided to get something professionally designed. This 3M wristpad has done the trick. Have not had another episode since I began using it 35 days ago. The pad itself is firm enough to provide support with just enough of a spongy feeling to avoid discomfort. When I press down on the material it gives to about a quarter inch before the firmness pushes back. You could think of it as a softer layer sitting atop a firmer layer beneath. If you are looking for something really soft and squishy then this is likely not for you.As for the so-called "curling" of the side edges, it is more of a raising up from the desk surface about 3/16 of an inch. Hasn't affected my browsing or gaming in the least. I don't use the edges of the pad for the mouse anyway, my mouse travels 1 inch on the mousepad going from the left side of the screen to the right and I try to stay in the center of the pad when using it. You could always use two sided tape if it bothered you too much. The rubber base holds fast to the desk surface and even with all the activity I've put it through it has not moved a hair from the position I placed it on day one. The mousepad surface has not discolored from my mouse (a razer deathadder) and I have not noticed any negative effects from the textured surface. In fact I think it helps in my case since this mouse has some super slick teflon feet or something akin to that. Needs a little drag to keep me from always overmoving the cursor past where I intended.Happy with the purchase and would recommend. Mine is the large/wider version. Hope it works for you as well.

They don't curl up if you're smart updated 4/30/2015
I LOVE this mouse pad. Would definitely buy again. For all the people complaining about them "curling up", I REALLY wish you would have taken the time to research and read ALL the reviews for this, especially the review submitted for the smaller version. One of the guys there suggested leaving the film on the back(yeah, I know, you should remove it for the anti-slip feature). He said if you do this and use it for a while, it allows the pad to get used to the movement of the mouse across the top surface and if and when you do take the film off, it will not curl up. Took his advice as I really don't need the anti-slip feature and I see NO SIGNS WHATSOEVER of anything "curling up". Absolutely love the mousing surface as the texture seems to give great feedback to the laser and tracking is awesome. I use a Logitech Anywhere Mouse MX and paired up, these are my mousing dreams come true. The wrist rest is rather firm but I like it and it gives great support. The really awesome thing is when you get this thing and pick it up, it's got some good weight to it and seems sturdy and well built.Follow up 4/30/2105: After using this for quite a while now for several hours daily I only have one complaint and it could be my fault due to positioning, table height, chair height, etc. However, the wrist rest to me seems overly firm, almost hard. Because of the position, etc. in which I am using it I tend to put quite a bit of weight on the wrist rest and after a while it starts to huts a bit. Otherwise, IMHO, it is by far the best wrist rest/mouse pad money can buy. I am getting a new desk setup soon and I believe that will put me in a position where this problem is eliminated so when I manage to wear this one out(which I don't see happening in the foreseeable future) I will definitely buy another just like it.

Great pad, except ...
This pad worked great with Microsoft mouse. Not so good with Apple Magic Mouse which sometimes refuses to move horizontally. All other features are great. Wish I could continue to use it.

Comparing this 3M pad to other 3M one.
The tracking is great. The area is a good size. I like the wrist support of this pad over this other 3M one (3M Precise Mouse Pad with Gel Wrist Rest, Soothing 3M Gel Technology and Satin Smooth Cover for All Day Comfort, Optical Mouse Performance and Battery Saving Design (MW85B), Extended, Black https://a.co/d/eFAIKx4).

COMFORTABLE!!
I'm on my computer several hours each day, and use the mouse a lot. I've been using this 3M mouse pad with wrist rest for a couple of months, likely more than 150 hours in total. My right wrist is no longer chafed and sore where I was resting it on the edge of the desk. The surface of the pad is virtually free of wear, looks new, as does the wrist rest. The gel in the pad has not settled or become indented at all, and the leatherette or leatherine or pleather or whatever the cover is made of appears brand new.the pad seemed small to me when I got it, but I can easily move the cursor from the left side of my left screen to the right side of the right screen.I love this thing -- if it wears out, I WILL buy another.

Very Comfotable, but bends up at the edges.
The wrist support is very comfortable. The big problem I have with it is that the edges of the pad curve up/bends. When the mouse tries to go to the edge, it stops working because the edge starts lifting it up off the pad. Shame, because it is very comfortable.
