This pillow is a modular design that has 5 separate wrapped thinner foam pads. You can adjust the height that feels comfortable by taking out one or more foam pads. What worked for me was to take out one of the thinner pads. Then use that pad, as suggested by another reviewer, to put into one of the squeezy pillows to give it some firmming up. Out of the box, the pillow is very firm. So I just pressed my fist into the pillow to "start the memory foam adjusting". I like the overall pillow ordered another one.

I love these, because you can mix and match for the desired height, and each one is individually wrapped/encased on cloth.

Highly recommend this pillow 😊. It's great that all four are covered. I use two of them myself, put one around my chest, and put the other one on my dog's bed. I'm the most impressed with these pillows I've ever used.

I have tried so many pillows and everyone is different so this may not be the golden one for everyone. And I would give it 5 stars but I wish I could half like a half inch insert haha I use 2 inserts for my bed which is perfect, and when I visit my boyfriend I use 3 (take my pillow with me, that's how specific my neck is). I get migraines and my neck is a big trigger. This pillow has helped immensely. It isn't really cooling that I have noticed but that's not why I got it. I totally dig the adjustable height situation.

FINALLY! I found a pillow that is perfect for me. I have ongoing pain from degradation in the vertebrae in my neck from an old car accident. A high-quality pillow is extremely important for me to keep my pain to a minimum. Most pillows bring on a ton of extra pain that will not go away throughout the day and the pain only gets worse each day that I use a pillow that is improperly supportive. They will cause me to lose sleep, bring on migraines, eventually prevent me from turning my head and pretty much ruin my daily life.I am a slide sleeper; it is a must for me. I can't fall asleep on my back and it hurts my neck to be on my stomach. I am 5'11" and when I sleep on my side, on my shoulder, I don't curl my shoulder very much, therefore I need a very thick pillow. 99% of the thick pillows on the market are thick in the middle, but not so much near the edges or the seams. They are all somewhat egg-shaped and this kills my neck, because there is a lack of support in the neck area where I need it the most. The pillows that claim to be designed for side sleepers, the ones that are foam and shaped to support the neck, are all way too thin for me. They don't support my neck, nor do they hold my head straight. I've purchased several and keep giving up- I can tell just by looking at measurements that a pillow is not suitable for my needs. Most are around 2" thick and this just doesn't cut it.Maybe 6 or 7 years ago, I found a foam pillow that is basically a 4-5" thick rectangle with square edges and it was perfect for my needs. I love that pillow, but like all pillows, it lost its firmness and my neck has been aching after about 5 years of using it. I've been fighting with it for about 2 years and struggling to find something new to replace it. They just don't make it anymore. I've been adding extra pillow cases and towels and such to the underside to help create some extra thickness, but it's become hopeless at this point.In overwhelming pain now, I decided it was once again time to scour Amazon for something, anything, that might help. I was starting to think I was going to have to have a piece of foam custom cut! Then I saw this 4 piece adjustable pillow for the first time and I immediately knew I had a winner! 4 pieces = more than 4" thick how genius! My immediate thought was (if I like this pillow and it works for me), I can buy a second one and when it starts to get too thin for me, I can easily add another new layer and bring it back to life. Brilliant.OMG I am so excited! As soon as I lay down on it, I knew I FINALLY found what I was looking for, for so, so long. My pain was completely gone after the first night and I've been a happy sleeper since. Problem FINALLY solved.TIP: Some people complain about the chemical smell. It's not as bad as many others I have purchased, but an easy solution is to put them in the dryer on no-heat with a few dryer sheets for about 15 minutes and bingo, they smell like your sheets instead.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! The density in the layers are PERFECT. However, I couldn't get it to just the right height for me. I'm 5'2" with a long neck and DDD. I know after a few nights if a pillow will work bc my right had falls asleep if my neck isn't supported just right. Unfortunately, this won't work. This is probably the 35th or 36th pillow I've tried since December. On to the next.

The 'ad-a-layer' concept is simple and effective. I'm a borderline insomniac and and usually can't make it past 2 hours of uninterrupted snoozing, and this pillow has been very useful. No breathability or shape retention issues with the foam (and I sleep hot most of the time). I added a soft cotton outer case and it's just perfect.
