Initial indications are good
Today, I took a 2 hour spin on my motorcycle to test out these Pinlocks. I have a Honda ST1300 with a Shoei GT Air helmet. The combo is pretty good for wind protection and noise. I was very happy with the Pinlocks. The noise reduction seemed quite good to me. I turned on the FM radio on my Sena, and I could clearly hear it. My go-to ear plugs have been foam types for effectiveness and comfort. The Pinlock plugs seem to be working every bit as well and I think better than the foam ones, both in terms of effectiveness and comfort. I have to jam the foam ones in my ears and it's difficult to always get them in so that I get adequate noise reduction. Getting them in is always an ordeal. Over the course of a day ride, the foam plugs make my ears a little sore. With all else being equal, I would prefer the Pinlocks over foams because they are must easier to insert. The real test would be a multi-day ride, but after two hours, they still felt great. I think I can say with confidence that I could wear them all day.If your motorcycle creates wind buffeting noise, as my Honda Africa Twin does, you will probably hear some low frequency rumbling. Virtual elimination of that noise would be the holy grail of ear plugs. If the Pinlocks did that, I would rate them 5 stars instead of 4. Still, they probably attenuate that noise as well as anything else I've tried.I first tried on the Pinlocks while sitting in my living room. I was a bit concerned about how difficult they were to get back out, but I found that they were much easier to remove if they've been in for a while. Like other reviewers have mentioned, the little tabs are not very effective, but you might find an orientation that allows you to access them more easily. At any rate, I don't find removal to be an issue after wearing them for a longer period of time.Update: I just wore them for nine hours straight. The right ear felt fine but the left ear was a little sore. On my next long ride, I'll try not to jam them in quite so far. That might help. Well into the ride, I made a stop and pushed them in further, and I think I was a bit too aggressive with it. For any ear plug, I would expect that your individual ear anatomy will affect your results. But one thing I definitely noticed was how much better I could hear my FM audio with the ear plugs inserted. I went out for a relatively short ride a few weeks ago to test out a little bit of work I did on the bike, and without wearing any plugs, the FM audio was not clear at all. With these Pinlocks inserted, the audio is much clearer. These are the best plugs I've found so far.

Did not work for me
The product is neatly packaged, comes with 4 actual plugs (2 sets in 2 different sizes), and seems to be made of quality materials. The noise cancellation does not work for me at all. I use the plugs when riding my adventure motorcycle. I have an adventure helmet with a peak, so it gets pretty noisy. The helmet itself is good quality and about as good as adventure helmets get regarding wind noise reduction.I usually use the normal pink/yellow foam plugs you can by at the drug store or Lowes/HD etc. These are very good at blocking noise, but can hurt after several hours in the ear. Which is why I got the Pinlocks. The Pinlocks go in easy and are very comfortable, even after several hours. However, they did not seem to block much of the wind noise for me at all. Maybe, maybe, a 5-10% wind noise reduction. The cheapo foam plugs get probably a 25-30 reduction for me.I would like these plugs to have worked for me, but they simply do not.YMMV.

Fantastic Motorsport Hearing Protection
These earplugs were just what I was looking for while riding. Even the best helmets can't dampen wind and motor noise to safe levels, and standard noise-cancelling foam ear plugs block entirely too much sound - creating their own hazard. The Pinlock Ear Plugs fit comfortably (the large size fit my ears perfectly), attenuate enough sound to protect your hearing (eliminating fatigue in the process), and let just enough mid and high frequency sound through so that you can stay situationally aware of your surrounding, and hear directions/music from your comms system. I do wish they were slightly more affordable (~$18.95 might be a better price point?). You'll want a backup pair with you at all times.

Good Earplugs, broke just before 6 months of daily commuting.
I'm really not sure with these. To start and in isolation, these are great earplugs! Easy to put in, easy out, lots of noise dampening. These are good earplugs. Before these, I was using some reusable "music" earplugs that I could only find at Wal-Greens for ~$15 each and I had been using those for several years. I often lost them and replaced them many times. However, the filter container was also the part you grab to remove from your ear and had a bad habit of coming out and leaving the rubber STUCK IN MY EAR! I had to use tweezers to get them out. So after the the third time that happened, I tried these PINLOCK.I am terrible at comparisons and the switch was 4 months ago, but I feel these had a little less attenuation than the cheep reusables from Wal-Greens. Everything seemed a little louder, but not uncomfortably loud. Now comparing two filtered earplugs I really couldn't tell you if it was the reduced attenuation or a better quality filter, but I was able to understand people talking better. As for comparing a filter to a non-filtered earplug, I'll take the filtered every day as I hate feeling like I am stuck in a cave with my own silence... and with tinnitus, that silence is actually a loud ringing... So yes, filter every day!So really, what I appreciate most about these is the pull tab is attached to the rubber.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Update 3/1/2018,Purchased September 8th, 2017.~6 months of 5+ days a week use for commuting (so every day had at least 2 insertions/removals), so would you call this heavy use? I believe so.Today, the removal tab broke off leaving the earplug in my ear! However, unlike the previous ones I used, I was still able to remove it without having to resort to the blind use of tweezers. I was still able to get them out pretty quickly and a new set are on the way.I removed a star not because they broke, but because they broke IN my ear. Keeping 4 stars because I could still get it out easily and am ordering another. I'm not sure if I would consider ~6 months to be cost effective, but I don't think my previous set lasted much longer.
