Some reviews say, to loud of ringer and some say too soft, so I'm confused. I probably would not want it too loud. Anyone have more details on this?

We bought the timer for my mother. She is hard of hearing and forgetful as well. She wears the timer around her neck and it works well for her. I don't think it is too loud at all. We bought two in case something happened to the first, it as held up well so far.

Does it have a ticking sound while it is timing, or is it silent? Thanks.

Mine is 2 and 3/8 inches in diameter and just a bit over an inch thick. The area with the hole for the cord protrudes about 3/8 inch from the tier itself. Some people have complained about this or that - it's too heavy or too big - but I'm not picky and I like mine just fine. It frees me up to do other things in other parts of the house or yard and it surely beats having something burn to cinders in the oven.
