Q: Why is there not a device like this for portable use on toilets and straight chairs? Shorter than this one?

I left an answer on Sept 30th about a plain walker. Very useful while traveling in the car or for guests in your home! You just pop it open and put it over any toilet backwards. No screwdriver neeed!! Works great for my guests that have trouble getting down or getting up from the toilet! And when they leave you just fold it and put it away in the closet or garage! Easy Peasy! My 93 year old friend taught me this when she was taking care of her 96 year old sister!! Mine has wheels only in front but you don't need wheels to put over the toilet. You can just plop it in the back seat or in trunk when you travel to some one else's house!!!

Q: Is the 9 inch height for the front or back of the arms?

It’s 9” at the back and tapers to about 7 1/2” in the front.

Q: After many uses, is it possible that this item will damage my couch from the pressure of the body weight from standing up or sitting down?

I have been using this assist for awhile and so far no damage has occurred. I do have any leather on my furniture, so can't speak to that.

Q: Does this work for straight chairs & toilets?

It would work for straight chairs but not toilets because the bars with gray tips on the bottom do not far enough to reach the floor.
