I couldn’t find the screws does anyone know what size they are?

They are quite small...about no 6 width × 1" (25mm) in length

Will this item be compatible with any 600 x 600 panel light (i.e. universal) or will it be restricted to a certain type of panel light.

I think it will be suitable for any surface panel i.e. as long as it is no thicker than the mounting panel. I had no problems at all fitting an LED panel flush to the ceiling.

Would this melt acetate paper or plastic? Can it hold a photo?

Interesting question! I have three ceiling-mounted panels, so I climbed on a chair to assess their temperature after they had been running for some time. They were cool to the touch, much to my surprise, so I can't imagine there would be any issue if you mounted acetate or paper, or even a photo on it.

should this metal frame be earthed ?

Hi there, the electrician I'm using has earthed it just to cover himself but he said its already insulated, he wouldn't say yes or no but why not earth it just to protect yourself..
