Does display screen rotate to portrait mode?

The hinge only allows the screen to go up and down.

Where do you get the app? Exactly what is its name? I can't find it

Sending mine back. The app doesn’t work.

Wouldn't everything just be backwards?

You have to download the app which makes it visually correct. However, is still not easy to see. Would be better to mount your phone directly on the dashboard facing you.

What app do I need for Android?

The application we suggest in the manual is Wudway Go but you can use any application that supports HUD mode.
