This magnifier is great. If you cannot read a newspaper, or print material this magnifier is for you. The light from this with with the light feature is perfect. Requires 3 AAA batteries. Exactly what I needed with my diminished sight. Size ofviewing area is 7”x 4.5”.

Very good product

This is not a technical review of this magnifying glass, but a user review. As I've gotten older, I've finally reached the point where a magnifying glass is often helpful for close or detailed examination of an item, as well as necessary for fine print. Over the past two or three years, I've acquired three or four different magnifying glasses from Amazon.The unit I was using previously did a good job of magnifying and had even LED lighting all around the lens, but was a little unwieldy to use and not particularly well-built--I had frequent problems with the light switch and electrical connections. I also wanted a larger viewing area. Looking for a larger unit, I found this glass--and though it was more costly that my previous one, decided to give it a try.This glass is about 30% larger than my last unit--4 7/8 inch measured diameter of the lens rather than 3 3/4 inch. Although the actual lens magnification is a little less, the field of view is much larger which is what I wanted. it provides a clearer view as well. The lighting on this unit is four bright LEDs at the top of the handle rather than encircling the lens, so it is more localized and not as even as with my other glass, but it is bright and certainly adequate. Although considerably larger, this glass is actually lighter than my previous unit and is easier to hold and handle. It appears to be a better-built unit, and to date I've had no issues with it. The small high-powered "lens within the lens" can be a little difficult to use, but has been helpful on a couple occasions to boost magnification of particularly tiny items. Overall I believe this is a good magnifying glass.

This is probably one of the best fresnel lens readers available, but i find fresnel lenses to be difficult due to bothersome reflections blocking the text. Also you get distortions if a page is not paralell. It is much lighter in weight and cheaper than glass though.

Recently got a different magnifying product specifically to set your phone in and happened across this one and am BLOWN. AWAY. Being a handheld tool means you can use for way more than just setting an object (like a phone) on AND the light with 3 different modes is a game changer.
