A must-have for bread loafs
Originally bought this during the pandemic because I could walk to a locally bakery for incredible sandwich bread. The only problem was the bread wasn’t sliced so I had to manually slice it. I previously would get uneven slanted bread slices which would make for awkward sandwiches. This tool is so simple to keep the knife inline that it works great. My slices are now all straight, even, and consistent. It also folds up for easy storage with minimal space. Clean up is pretty simple since there aren’t many surfaces. I no longer live by the bakery but I still use it when I bake banana bread or want consistently sliced bagels. This is medium quality plastic, but it’s probably what you’d expect given the price. I had to buy a second one after 5 years. The base hinge broke (which was actually kind of nice to remove the base at times) and I was getting a lot of knife marks along the bottom of the guide. I gave the old one to my toddler to play with in her play kitchen and I use the new one.

Not quite big enough but could get the job done for smaller loaves
This works well but it's a bit flimsy and feels cheap. I bake my own bread but found the height of the device too short for the bread I make. Your mileage may vary. I did make some smaller loaves just so I could see what the slices would be like. I didn't think the slices measured up to typical sandwich sized slices but if you like smaller sandwiches maybe this is for you.

Bread slicer works well for standard loaves
I can't slice evenly to save my life. I didn't want to get a large contraption to slice one piece of toast every morning so I tried this smaller one.I knew it was a little small for my pretty large loaf but wanted to try. As expected I couldn't fit the loaf standing in the usual position so I turned it on it's side and just squashed it down. Not perfect but I do get good slices. It's adjustable so I can have thick or thin slices as needed. I'm not sure I would be happy if I had to make many slices as each slice must be removed individually but for a free slices it's great. I love that it folds up so compactly.

I do not use this for bread
I bought this to specifically give me consistent slices of the lunnch meat products I make for myself... 1 trial slice to check the weight... make any adjustments to cut width... then slice away... yes... it is slower that an electric meat slicer... but since I don't have the room for one... and that the minimum thickness I need is only 1/4"... this works like a champ... and cleans up very easily and quickly...

Flimsy
Washed it, and one of the nubs that holds the bottom plate in place broke off. As others have said, you need it on a silicone mat to cut, otherwise it slips and slides worse than a drunk uncle at a Fourth of July party. While it doesn't take up much space, the ability to cut only was slice at a time is just slightly bothersome. It isn't my biggest concern, but definitely adds to the negative. It's easy enough to change the bread slice thickness, but I wish the entire assembly was more stable. You get what you pay for, and I'll be searching for something that suits my wants better.

Buy This One...I've Tried Them All
Search no further! I bake all of our sandwich bread, and have tried several styles of the inexpensive slicing guides. All have been disappointing, either falling apart or adding splinters, etc. This slicing guide is not like that at all! It is sturdy, has the ability to slice multiple thicknesses, is tall enough for my tallest loaves, and does everything one would expect it should do. I am very pleased with how well it works. Truly, I'd given up on finding a guide that wouldn't break the bank, then tried this one. It works very well.

Adjustable slice thickness
Not the most stable product but love that you can adjust the thickness of the slice
