Covers modern cloud-based tech that a Linux sysad or user should know
This book is, in my opinion, pretty impressive; set into four major parts or sections, it really does cover the key things a modern Linux sysadmin must know. The book begins (Part 1) with a gentle learning curve – to all things a budding Linux sysadmin might require to know. Part 2 then moves you into a bit of deeper detail – on learning about and managing filesystems, the network, Bash scripting (with practical examples), and even securing a modern Linux system. I learned new stuff here: about Disaster Recovery Planning (DRP), and more on SELinux and AppArmor!Cloud-based sysadmin techniques, including working with Linux’s powerful KVM hypervisor, and managing containers with Docker, form the next major part (Part 3).Part 4 of the book is a wholly devoted to modern cloud administration tech on Linux. It begins with an introduction to cloud computing, which covers the now well-known (at least it should be!) [X]aaS solutions, DevOps, and common cloud management tools (including Ansible and Puppet). The book then goes further! - the last two chapters get into the details of (the very popular) Kubernetes app deployment and automation with Ansible. The book’s GitHub site has all the source-level code examples and config fragments. All in all, a great read for budding as well as experienced Linux sysadmin’s / users on a modern Linux (cloud) environment.
