We've tried a few others in the past, but many were too heavy for us to handle. This one is robust yet lightweight, and we’ve had no trouble picking it up. Looking forward to seeing how it performs in the coming season—will update more then!I recently purchased and used one of these robotic pool cleaners and it really knocked it out of the park. I will break down my review further, but from the moment I took it out of the box, it was super easy to use AND it worked like a dream, it even picked up smaller things like bugs, dirt, and hair that I was not expecting the brushes to be able to handle.1. Packaging: Super easy to put together and the instructions are obvious, couldn’t really ask for anything more.2. Start-up: HIGHLY recommend downloading the Poolmate app to work with your cleaner. It’s as easy as plug, sink, and play. The app allows you to change its cleaning modes, adjusting for the length of time and the intricacy of the cleaning paths.3. Cleaning: Depending on the setting you choose, it’ll scrub the floors, and the walls, and even hang along the waterline and pick up any floaters on the edges of the pool. If you have any drop offs or steps in your pool, it even hangs around there and cleans them as well. The cleanings lasted anywhere from 1-4 hours and it picked up every piece of debris that was in my pool. This is where the app comes in as well, if you feel like your cleaner missed a spot, you can take manual control and navigate it yourself to pass over anything it may have missed. I’ll admit, while the cleaner missed nothing, I took control of it a bit as the controls were quite smooth and reactive, it was like playing a little video game.4. Post clean: One thing I would like to mention is this cleaner is very lightweight. Once it finishes cleaning, you can go on the app and tell it to come up and park itself on the edge of the pool for an easy pickup. At this point there is debris and water inside of it, so you want to carefully pull it up slightly above the water line so the water can drain; it does this rather quickly. The filter compartment pops out very easily with a handle and you can dump the debris and rinse the rest off with a hose. The cords are very high quality, and they roll back up very easily.All in all, this is a VERY effective pool cleaner and it’s very easy to use. You want to keep the battery pack out of direct sunlight while it’s plugged in, I just used the box the cleaner came in as a shield for it. I would highly recommend this to anyone, you can sit and watch with some drinks and have fun with it, or you can drop it in and go about your day, either way, you won’t regret buying this.

Because of its small size and contemporary appearance, it is simple to manipulate. Even for someone like myself who isn't super-savvy with technology, setting it up was a piece of cake. It took me just a few minutes to get it ready for its first run, according to the instruction booklet, which was easy to understand. To reach every nook and cranny of my medium-sized pool, I have a cable that is fifty feet long. In addition to being able to scrub the floor of the pool, this device also has the capability of cleaning the walls and the waterline of the pool. As it worked its way up the edges of the pool, I observed as it tackled algae and grime, which are typically things that I had to do manually. It came as a great surprise that it did not get caught on the pool steps, given that my prior cleaner had a really difficult time with that particular obstacle. The vigorous scouring brushes of the Hydro 4 brought back the luster of the tiles, and there was a discernible improvement in the clarity of the pool water after only one cleaning session. In a matter of minutes, I was able to sync the app with the Hydro 4 after downloading it. You are able to start, pause, and even alter the cleaning mode straight from your phone thanks to the efficient and user-friendly design of the application. On the other hand, when I was using the application, I did have a few problems with connection. In several cases, the cleaner would not quickly react to orders, and I had to restart the connection in order to get it to work again. When I was attempting to fine-tune the cleaning settings, it was becoming a little bit irritating, but it wasn't a deal-breaker really.

My pool Booster Pump Cleaner (including pool skimmer-vacuum system) , the older technology used for cleaning pools, worked fine, but with changed weather patterns and wind-frequency, and ag. industry dust from local fields, my pool needed more cleaning than in the past. The Hydro 4 Cleaner works well beyond my expectation. The old system allowed for daily cleaning and the Hydro 4 system is the same. I no longer use the older technology system; I believed I would need to use both systems for needed quality. I purchased the Hydro 4 Cleaner, corded version versus the cordless/wireless model. (I didn’t want the extra burden of recharging a battery and having to monitor the charge level, including physically moving the Cleaner in and out of the pool for charging the battery.) I lift the cleaner out of the pool when necessary to clean the cleaner filters and waste container, only; opening the filter system lid (facing down) and spraying water through the outside both empties and cleans the large and small particles inside the container. The cleaner is scheduled through my smartphone application / cloud-account for daily use and I monitor the cleaner service history, including the pool temperature. A light on the cleaner-front brightens my pool at night and the same light remains on when the cleaner is connected to electricity, notifying me of cleaner service readiness. The cleaner sweeps the pool floor and walls, but I must manually steer it to clean the stairs for a quality clean. The dust and leaf filters collect and leave my pool at a high quality, clean level. (The corded-version cleaner seems to take time to unwind and relax its cord and remain without kinks from its packaged-shipping-storage state, but afterward the problem is resolved.) I believe the cleaners value outweights its cost; I am writing this review after several months of purchase and daily service use. I highly recommend the Hydro 4 Robotic Pool Cleaner, especially due to the weather changes and need for an easy operation, useful and quality service product.
