CompTIA Network+ Certification All-in-One Exam Guide, Seventh Edition (Exam N10-007) 7th Edition

I write this review with hopes it will help another IT enthusiast like myself.I passed my Network+ Exam yesterday (August 3rd) on my first try. I have zero networking experience, and my only prior knowledge of networking was the introduction to networking class I took while working on my Bachelors in Information Technology.I gave myself one month from receiving this book until I was in the Exam room. I did just that and felt that this book was beneficial. For those of you that have little to no knowledge of networking, this book will help give you an excellent overview of networking. Professor Meyers has a unique method of piecing everything together as you progress throughout the book.Depending on your learning style, I would suggest other material on top of this book when taking the exam. It was difficult, and I don't believe I would have passed just by reading this book alone. The book provided a great foundation of general knowledge on each key objective. However, I used two other study materials to be safe.Professor Messer's videos were beneficial, as well as printing off his PDF notes. His videos are linear with the learning objectives. Which was great to follow up with after cramming this study guide; additionally I found Certmaster was well worth the price. About 800 questions overall and had a quick learning method of re-quizzing you on areas you struggled on.My study methodology:Cram Network+ 007 study guide in two weeks (About 55 pages a day)One week of binging Professor Messer's videos (12 Hours total playing time)One week of CertMaster, and any other areas I felt that I need additional research.I hope this helps those of you that are nervous about the exam like I was.

This book is very well written, besides very detailed and informative, the author injects humor, easy to understand analogies, and logically pulls together all the exam objectives, in a linear fashion. Since I had read the official CompTIA Network+ book and began to feel overwhelmed and discouraged. I hopped on Amazon and researched other Network+ books and Mike Myers book just struck me as an authority on the topic. Now halfway through I can whole heartedly say that I am mesmerized by the author. He technically details each aspect in layman’s terms making it an easy read and it gets me excited that I may have a real opportunity to pass this exam in style. I had put off on buying more books because I wanted to be sure I needed them. Right now I don’t believe I do. I really enjoy his writing style and he points out, in several places, where the test makers themselves have some of the terminology wrong and also lets you know what will likely be on exam and what will not. I could go on and on but I will end it here and let you take my word for it. Excellent book, and excellent perspective. Well done! Bravo!

I have a software development background, but my understanding of computer networking was mostly stuck at the "application layer" because that was all I had really ever needed to use. I was not really aiming for any sort of certification, but I needed to gain a functional understanding of how all of the networking pieces work together, and this book has been great for that.The book is very well written, relatively easy to follow, and contains a wealth of useful information, conveyed in an understandable and sensibly-ordered way. The description says 926 pages, but the Kindle edition actually contains several additional chapters that are not counted toward the page-count, making it somewhat longer - and none of it is redundant or useless information. And even beyond that, the final quarter of the Kindle book is composed of a number of useful appendices, which are also not counted toward the listed page count.You may not have an in-depth knowledge of networking going in, but by the time you finish this book, you will.

This is the absolute best resource you can buy for the Network+ Certification. I went to Purdue University where I majored (and graduated!) in computer engineering. I now work in industry as a security engineer and am seeking deeper knowledge “from the ground up”. I have tried other training resources also, including ProfessorMesser and Jason Dion of DionTraining which are also popular. I found those decent, but nowhere near as good as Mike Meyers - and I will quantify my reasoning for that.When I watch other instructors (e.g. DionTraining’s UDemy Vids), they are fast and very to the point. Dare I say rushed? They do not contain any real good context. Or background. Which is needed for beginners…. And frankly, much of it didn’t make sense, UNTIL MIKE EXPLAINED IT IN THIS BOOK HERE.So, if you already know networking topics very well, and just want to know WHAT is covered on the Network+ so you can prepare and pass it using pre-existing knowledge, DionTraining’s UDemy course may work. And his UDemy course comes with notes for you which is nice.But… If any of this is new for you, then like many neophytes, those videos just won’t FULLY make sense. And you truly need that extra background information, which only Mike provides.Mike Meyers… man I hate reading, and I actually enjoy this mans book haha. He provides these perfect little examples and analogies/“storylines” which make it really clear. And, very difficult to forget. By the end? It honesty all makes sense.You feel prepared after reading the first couple pages, which give you an amazing study plan. And realistic expectations for the exam, which are: read this book once. Then, read it again twice - this time highlighting and taking notes. Next, take all the practice tests. And finally, go take the test - and you will pass with flying colors. This is super fair. In fact, if you didn’t pass, it would be impressive.Again, DionTraining provides a good overview of what is covered on the exam. But not how those topics work. So you are actually looking to LEARN the topic of networking, then I feel DionTraining the wrong path. You may pass the certification, sure… but you won’t know and understand as much. In my opinion, With Mike, you will learn and come to understand every crumb. You will understand it inside and out. And you’ll feel confident in that.
