Is it a stereo or mono machine?

Mono - the sound quality is not that brilliant but it does a turn in a small room, & is more fun to look at than a black box. You get what you pay for after all.

I cant get the cd player reading the cd, is this a fault or something simpl?

try cleaning the lense with a cleaner disc...i also have cd"s that will not work on certain players...not sure why?

Please can anyone tell me if the flashing lights can be turned off or can you put them on without flashing

Yes they can be turned on/switched off seperate to the music functions
